RC daily update 10/23

General Updates:
After the 7:45 and 8 am meetings yesterday the Techs took an escorted access to insert the sieve for carbon optics data during the beam studies/high power test. We collected about 10M events with a 1.7 GeV threshold on BBCal. During the beam studies/high power test the machine was able to run briefly at 850 MW with 45 uA to both halls A&C.

After the tests were over the Techs removed the sieve and we returned to production data. Swing shift was mostly smooth but with a couple hiccups with the helicity that were fixed by starting a new run. Owl got off to an interesting start, the TO did not arrive and not contactable but Xinzhan was able to see my message and come to the counting house a little after 1 am. During this time the laser had a high temp trip. HaFiber3 reached its trip point at 70 C after we moved to “no target” for some beam down time. The lasers were reset and have had no issues since but we did lose some polarization. The next NMR after the trip was 42%.

This morning we have had issues with the windows lab view computer. First the current monitor stopped running, setting off the field alarms. Currently the NMR vi will not run. Experts are on the way to look at it and were able to fix it. Unfortunately, multiple sweeps were required and the latest NMR measurement is 37.5 %

Another comment about the IC rates and GEM currents that we had issues with over the weekend. During the beam studies some orbit changes were made and an additional lock was placed on our orbit. After this happened we have had no issues with ramp up in the ICs or the GEMs.

RUN PLAN
Continue He3 running as long as the polarization is high enough. If this issue hurts the polarization too much we will take H2 reference cell data.

Maintenance day is schedule for Tomorrow. There are plans for GEM, BBCal, and Target groups to work in the hall. GEM and BBCal should try and start work as soon as the hall is swept as later in the day we will need to go to CANS mode for laser work. If anyone else needs to work in the hall let me know.
