Progress continues

Today is the first double shift day with some folks taking quite long shifts too.

This morning, the vacuum achieved 1.0E-2 torr (quite good) with both the blower and turbo pumps pumping on the magnet and the cold trap out of the system.
We found the blower system not helping much but the additional piping needed to have it in the system caused the turbo pump to be less effective.
We removed the blower system and cleaned up the pumping lines and by noon we achieved 7E-3 Torr. We sprayed lots of helium on the OVC and found no leaks. At 13:00 we started the pressure tests of the 3 circuits in the magnet. We pressurized each circuit indpendently with helium while monitoring the circuit pressure and pressure in the insulating vacuum space as well has the helium background in the vacuum space. (this is the best test that can be done. All passed with no detectable leaks. I can't say all was perfect as the vacuum and background was good but not ideal, the vacuum and helium background are burping quite a bit but this is not surprising at this point).

The top hat has been cut off and electrical induction measurements are being done now.

Second shift today will focus on work needed to install the primary helium flow return vaporizer. (its drip tray, and mounting brackets) and then when the electrical team completes their measurements (sevearl hours) the top of the chimney will be prepared for welding on the SST bottom plate which should begin early tomorrow.
