An Update for you.
Leak test of piping internal to the shield was a bit of a chore and we only got to 10E-8 torr*L/sec proven tightness. This is because even with a bagged and purged rubber stopper one of them still had some leakage, and the system is still outgassing. We continued to pump until today and will back fill as soon as we are ready to install the lower shield. After the decision by the team (John, Me, Ruben and Joe) to accept the 10E-8 leak test (we will repeat the test after the installation of the lower shield and this will have either 1 or no rubber stoppers) we went forward last night shift on MLI inside the tower/chimney. All was completed less the places where the band heater and the splice blocks and their supports. Also completed was addition of backing strips to the vertical seams on the SST lower VJ.
Today we added a backing strip to the bottom plate, we received the belville washers for the band heaters and have installed them and we are now completing the MLI (Dontre from the old Torus team via SRF came back to help us out).
This evening we should start to install the lower shield. And depending on how that goes we could be pressure testing tomorrow (see white board photo)
Also a huge effort on completing the wiring had been going on and final details are being worked on by Ruben as I type.
Joe and I have reviewed the VJ trimming and will go over it one more time when we receive the survey input to assure we only have to lift the VJ halves once each side.

Work continued last week some photos for your info.
Ambient vaporizer was leak and pressure tested and bolted into position on L3
Lots of work on installing sensors and electrical checks inside the SST
Lower VJ cut to length (will need to do test fit. I may have made a calc error on trim lengths, so we may need to order a short piece of 42" OD pipe.)
LOTS and LOTS of leak testing and re-plumbing, a summary of that is:
* There was some "smoke" coming out of a pipe when being welded up so we likely have some oil or other hydrocarbon in some tube or fitting that is out gassing.
* one of our corks had a small leak and it was fixed on night shift Friday
* small leak not pin pointed and not repeating the same each time (day shift Thursday and Friday) (I determined again today that there seems to be at least one leak!)
* system piping optimized for out-gassing the piping and leak checking (see attached sketch)
* leak test plan developed (see attached)
Monday morning there is lots of electrical work planned so we will have to share space (as per usual) or one of the teams will have to back off...

Lots of progress welding last night by Steve with Luke and Denny!
This morning Josh finished the last welds before we leak test the piping inside the shield.
We are pumping on the internal piping and reservoirs now and starting the leak check - phase 2
When this is complete all internal MLI piping will be applied.
If there is any more electrical work to do inside the shield it needs to be done soon or it will delay installation of the lower shield. (I spoke to Probir about this just a few minutes ago)
Then the final 8 internal welds will be made and the 80K MLI.
VJ will be trimmed to length using the data from recent surveys. Kelly can we get this today?

Sharing good news:
1) the Pressure tests of the Solenoid Magnet shield piping was completed this morning at 320psig.
2) the final leak tests were done by
a) bagging fitting on the end of each tube
b) filling the bags and waiting 1-3 minutes depending on which end we were pumping on
c) spraying helium into the IV a couple times to confirm no internal leaks.
We we had background levels in the magnet of 1 to 2 to E-9 torr*liter/sec on each of the tests.
See photos.
We repeated the flow test of the BL side just to confirm blockage during repair (see attached file)(no significant change ... measurement error difference)
Also today we have welded more of the magnet primary helium circuit and started purging and fit up of the Magnet Reservoir (MR) differential pressure level transducer (high pressure side) tube coupling.
Also Probir/Ruben and Renuka took advantage of breaks in the action to make more electrical measurements AND the survey team was back to take some data that they said had some issues from yesterday.

Highlights
Monday:
Day shift fit up the MR return piping and tacked it in.
Second shift
1) found a 1E-6 leak on the BL shield circuit at the connection between the rectangular tube and the bi-braze connection.
2) Fully welded out the MR 4K return line
Tuesday:
Day shift
1) Pin pointed two leaks with snoop and made repair plan with Mike Martin included
2) Completed flow tests of BL and BR flow tubes and as hoped they are about the same so the temperature of the shields should be similar both left and right side (see attached file)
3) Continued welding on 4K Reservoir piping
4) Did studies on Z supports
5) Survey group took data on SST to Magnet and magnet bottom plate to save time with SST clamshell triming and fitup
Second shift
1) repair of the leaks in the aluminum weld
2) full repeat of the cold shock with better N2 reservoirs to assure better cooling
3) leak test of the repair (successful with NDL at 1E-9)
Today:
Day shift plan
1) Pressure test Magnet shield circuits again to 320psig
2) Final leak test of Magnet shield circuits
3) Final flow test of repaired shield circuit
4) Analysis of the Z support
5) Welding of the MR 1/2" and 1/4" OD tubing
6) More electrical tests this evening ( not to disturb welding progress per RF)
Second Shift:
1) Fitting and welding of Magnet shield circuit piping to SST shield piping
2) Vaporizer leak testing and transport to Hall B?
