Dear Hall-B Members and Collaborators,
tomorrow, Monday, is a public holiday and the Hall B Meeting is cancelled for this week. Please find below a summary.
Best,
Patrick
Activities and Announcements
* Last Friday, 12 January 2024 Jesmin Nazeer gave a presentation on her PhD work titled "Construction and commissioning of Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) detectors in advance assembly design for low-energy applications at high rates and analysis of GEM data from the MUSE experiment at PSI".
* A four-day Geant4 Tutorial Course at Jefferson Lab, scheduled for 25-29 March 2024 could be interesting for Hall B members. Details will be announced through the Cuga mailing list and on the Geant4 Collaboration web site: https://geant4.org/collaboration/events.
Data Calibration and Processing
* Calibrations of the RG-A and RG-C data sets continue; RG-C is preparing for a ready-for-cooking review for the Summer 2023 portion of the run; alignments for the RG-D data set and the new RG-K alignment runs continues; RG-D is preparing for a ready-for-calibration review.
Current RG-K Run
*
RG-K restarted on Thursday, 11 January 2024 with a Moeller run, harp scans, empty warm and cold target alignment runs and commenced with pre-production runs on Saturday morning, followed by smooth RG-K production data taking with a beam current of 65 nA.
* DC voltages and thresholds have been studied and optimized to provide best momentum resolutions.
* Until Wednesday, Hall B is the only hall receiving beam from CEBAF.
Design and Engineering:
* For RG-E: An interference between the cryo-target and the dual target was found, models were reviewed and parts to remove interference were updated; the CAD model for the 2 cm target cell was updated.
* For ALERT: The Drift Chamber gas control system tank and exhaust fan were tested; work with the DSG to update the gas system; evaluation of target straw and tooling.
* For uRWell prototype operation: work on hodoscope design to incorporate multianode PMTs.
Hall B Work and Status
* The Region-1 Sector-4 Drift Chamber was repaired, tested, and installed.
* The RG-D foil assembly was removed from the target.
* Beam line shielding inside FT mount was inspected; this information will be used to update the CAD model.
* Survey and successful alignment of Forward Tagger, Moller cone, Drift Chamber, and target is completed.
* The new ion pump at the Faraday cup was started and works fine.
* By Wednesday, all CLAS12 subsystems were moved back into the run position.
Safety
* “Skill of Craft” Permit-To-Work on issue in ePAS and three different “Electrical Work” Permits-To-Work ready for issue in ePAS; with these most relevant work in the hall is covered.
* No scheduled high hazard work for the upcoming week.
