[Hallb-solenoid] P027 Interlock checks and remaining check sheets

Therefore I suggest (and I would like Nick to comment on this also), can we adjust the thresholds to allow for this helium control so as not to trip - until we can resolve it permanently?

Tyler etal,
The way the helium is controlling is the only way the magnet can be run. LL8120SC will always read 100% unless we make a new piece of hardware to lift it in the reservoir or buy one with a longer active length but the same overall length.

The EV issue has nothing to do with magnet operation, just recovery from a cryo outage or a quench that warms the coils.

Hope this helps.

Dear Dave,

Pablo has gone to Hall B with Amanda to continue working on the checklist. To the best of my knowledge, what Pablo was talking about in his point #3 is that there is a liquid Helium valve that is causing the liquid helium level to fluctuate and go too high and too low. On October 1 at about 800AM you sent an email describing this. Also over the weekend there were emails regarding the replacement of a helium valve with an EV. These are the cryo issues that would need to be resolved because they are causing the Cryo Interlock in the PLC Controlled Ramp Down section on EPICS.

Pablo should be able respond with any clarification when he is able to since he is currently in Hall B.

Best regards,
Tyler

Pablo,
What are the cryo issues that need to be resolved?
Thanks

Hello Ruben,

We spoke to Nick in the hall regarding some questions we had about the interlock checkout procedure. Additional questions and comments we have are:

1. We were informed that for task named “Test Hardware Interlock System Cable Interlock” that the cables that need to be disconnected to trip the interlock are on the torus coil. We do not have man lift training and cannot complete this task on our own. Is there anyone in the Magnet Group that can help with this test.

2. While in the hall, we talked to Probir about an issue with the Quench Detector Sum interlocks. We figured out that for this interlock, it is wired backwards. It is wired in a way where it fails when it should be in a safe state. Probir mentioned that someone will be in the hall to fix the wiring this afternoon This wiring would need to be fixed so we can continue the tests. When would the changes be done to the wiring to allow the interlock tests?

3. There are several cryo PLC Controlled Ramp down interlocks that are tripped. We had to bypass these interlocks in the PLC software to clear the interlock. Once the cryo issues are resolved, we will be able to remove the bypass. Will the change to an EV valve as discussed in email resolve this issue?

In order to complete the test so that the interlock system will be fully tested and will ensure the torus is ready to be powered, the above issues will need to be resolved. We will continue to look at the procedure to help the tests go as smooth as possible and the above issues are resolved.

Guys,

Apologies for the pressure but Glenn, Leigh and Allison keep asking when all the checklists (including the interlocks) will be completed. They are pushing to power up the magnet tomorrow.
