Dear all,
During the 9 AM meeting today from MCC, two possible scenarios were
presented to proceed with the vacuum leakage accident that occurred on the
accelerator site.
https://ace.jlab.org/dtm/open-events?event_id=18900
The leakage apparently is weak, and the vacuum quality in the accident
site, though not optimal, is maintained to some level. So the option would
be to start operating with that vacuum on Monday. This will not affect the
vacuum quality in Hall-B, but there are some (not very high as I
understand) risks of damaging the ion pumps in the area of the accident,
which may become even major issue if happen. The second alternative is to
disassemble the magnet in the accident area, fix the problem, and this
will allow us to have a beam only on Friday. There are discussions ongoing
at this moment on how to proceed, and tomorrow at the 9 AM meetings, they
will provide more details.
Thanks,
Hayk.
