Dear colleagues,
please find the program for next week's joint Hall A & C analysis
workshop at this address
http://hallaweb.jlab.org/data_reduc/AnaWork2017/program.html
(The link on the registration page hasn't been updated yet.)
This is intended to be a very informal, hands-on workshop, specially
aimed at students and postdocs to become familiar with (or get better at
using) the Hall A and C analysis tools. To this end, we are planning to
have a number of live, hands-on tutorials and exercises that
participants will be able to work through during the sessions. Experts
will be available to help with questions and problems. These tutorials
will take between 10 and 30 minutes each, depending on the session.
Since this is the first time we are trying this approach at a Hall A & C
workshop, expect a few - hopefully minor - bumps in the road.
Anyone who would like to participate in the live tutorials should bring
a laptop computer running a current version of Windows, macOS or Linux.
Before the workshop, please install the VirtualBox virtual machine
software on your computer, which you can obtain here
https://www.virtualbox.org
You will find details on system requirements and installation
instructions there as well. We will assume that you have VirtualBox 5.1
successfully running on your laptop.
We will distribute USB drives at the beginning of the workshop that will
contain a VirtualBox image with all necessary software and data files.
For best performance, your laptop should have a USB 3 port available,
though USB 2 will work as well.
If VirtualBox is not an option for you, we will make the workshop
tutorials available offline for use on the JLab ifarm and elsewhere. The
VirtualBox image will also be made available for download.
Please feel free to contact Eric Pooser or myself with any questions.
Best regards,
Ole Hansen
