Dear Colleague,

Jefferson Lab is internationally recognized for its comprehensive
scientific program in hadron physics, enabled by the up-to-12 GeV
electron beam from CEBAF and primarily conducted through fixed-target
experiments. The interaction of the high-intensity electron beam with
the beam dump produces intense secondary beams of muons, neutrinos,
neutrons, and potentially even hypothetical dark matter particles. The
potential for producing a light dark matter beam is currently being
explored by the PAC-approved Beam Dump eXperiment (BDX). The underground
facility planned for BDX could also accommodate additional
instrumentation to enable new experiments utilizing these secondary beams.

To explore these exciting possibilities, we are organizing a two-day
hybrid workshop (in person and on Zoom) titled "BDX and Beyond",
scheduled for September 4–5, 2025, at Jefferson Lab. The workshop aims
to optimize the use of secondary beams at JLab and will culminate in the
preparation of a White Paper summarizing its findings and recommendations.
The scientific program is structured around the following tracks:

1. Muon physics
2. Neutrino physics
3. Dark matter and dark sector
4. Instrumentation and targets
5. Other topics (including beam dump and beam lines)

Detailed information about the secondary beam characteristics can be
found on the workshop indico page
and in the recent publication: M. Battaglieri et al., Secondary Beams at

This workshop will serve as a forum for presenting cross-cutting ideas
relevant to the secondary beam experimental environment at JLab and for
engaging in fruitful discussions with experts from the muon, neutrino,
dark matter, and accelerator physics communities.

Invited speakers include:

Andrei Afanasev (GWU)
Dinawita Banerjee (CERN)
Ethan Cline (StonyBrookU)
Luca Doria (MainzU)
Claudio Montanari (INFN)
Vishvas Pandey (FNAL)
Ryan Plestid (CalTech)
Riccardo Rossini (PaviaU)
Davide Terzani (LBL)

We would be glad to accept oral contributions of 15+5 mn via the web
interface (https://indico.jlab.org/event/951/abstracts/)

We kindly ask all the speakers to submit a short (1–2 page) extended
abstract before the workshop. A LaTex template is provided at the Indico
page
https://indico.jlab.org/event/951/page/499-extended-abstracts.
Speaker contributions and the outcome of the discussion at the workshop
will be collected in a White Paper that will be made publicly available
on ArXiv after review by the participants.

We look forward to seeing you at Jefferson Lab this September!
