Thursday we were in controlled access during the whole day shift. During this time there were a couple of things we worked on and fixed.
1. The cryo main distribution box soft vacuum -Heidi and Hall C Techs completed by noon. Heidi said they made a huge improvement on the heat load in the system https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184573
2. The smaller Moller quad Power supply - DC power worked until the end of day shift and fixed (Big thanks to the team) - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184650
3. The DAQ work - Ben and Wassim - There were some issues (FADC -> VTP serial link stability problems in nps-vme4) - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184617
4. HMS detector HV switching- Dave Mack made an unsuccessful attempt to replace some of the questionable HV channels - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184610
5. NPS calorimeter work - Carlos, Mitch, and Hao - replaced and recovered one NPS channel -https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184631
Finally, we requested a beam permit around 4 p.m., but the PSS system dropped the hall to restricted access three-time.
The swing shift was very productive (shift summary - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184723) with a very good beam -Thanks to MCC.
The owl shift was good (shift summary - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184855) except few events:
1. MCC noted that the sweeper magnet was reading back 467A though the set current was 0. Not sure whether the sweeper magnet was on for the elastic runs. Thanks, Dave Gaskell for putting a request to archive variables related to the NPS sweeper and corrector magnets. (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4184906).
2. The HMS Q1 tripped due to low LHe level - recovered and Q1 is set to its desired current. (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4185036).
While the HMS Q1 problem was going on (around 6:45 a.m.), Dave Gaskell was contacted with a request to start the Moller measurement sooner than planned at 8:30 a.m. We requested MCC to start the Moller procedure, but Dave found a problem with the target control and took controlled access. We are hoping to start Moller measurement soon.
Some known issues:
1. DAQ -Ben thinks there are some fADCs that are not seated properly in one of the NPS crates - Opportunities controlled access.
Shifts:
We need a TO for this Saturday's swing shift and there are a couple of open shifts for the next week.
Please consider signing up for the open slots (https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/apps/physics/shiftSchedule/index.cfm?experimentRunId=DVCS-NPS-2023).
There will be the usual RC meeting today at 11 a.m. to discuss the run plan.
