RC update (1st May 2024)

We changed to the KinC_x36_4 setting yesterday morning. Many thanks to Steven, Jerry and the team for helping with the SHMS manual rotation. Production data-taking resumed after a short test of the NPS sweep currents (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4292964), including some more data-taking at a reduced fan speed on loop 2 (thanks to Chandan). Dave Meekins started warming up loop 2 around midnight and we managed to take a short run on the LH2 as it was vaporising (https://logbooks.jlab.org/files/2024/05/4293430/nps_hms_coin_6425_50k.pdf). We are very grateful to Dave and Silviu for helping to make this happen. While loop 2 was warming around 2am there was an issue with a beam line vacuum pump and adjacent valve (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4272588), which required a short access to reset. Beam was off around 6.45am and we ramped the spectrometer magnets to zero due to Cryo scheduling a nitrogen outage this morning.

We collected just over 15 ABUs. The hall is in controlled access.

It is maintenance day today and the expectation is that there will not be beam available until mid-Swing shift. The major work for today is swapping the hydrogen over to loop 3 by Dave Meekins. When Hall C will be ready for beam depends on how that work goes today and how long the target takes to condense.
