Pass change day #2!

Yesterday, after the fan speed test, the LH2 target was returned to it pre-test state by 1630h (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4303588). A final slate of "fan test" runs was then taken at 40 psi, and we moved to the KinC_x50_0 setting at 1835h (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4303711), to stay there until the beam was taken away for the pass change. After a set of elastic runs at this setting, a luminosity scan was performed on the carbon target (many thanks to Julie for staying to oversee this!). Unfortunately, during the preparation for the luminosity scan, the HMS drive controller stopped, and Joe Beaufait had to be called in to reset the breaker (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4303857). As the stalled HMS angle wasn't judged to be a problem for the luminosity scan, the full cycle was completed, and Joe was able to access the hall at 2345h (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4303927), and we were rotated to the correct angle by the end of SWING shift (https://logbooks.jlab!
 .org/entry/4303931). OWL shift took a second luminosity scan (on the LH2 target, rather than the carbon foil), and then went into a DIS production cycle for the rest of the shift.

Just before 0800h today, beam was taken down in the injector so that the hardware change necessary for Hall C's 4-pass running can take place. This is expected to be done by 1200h, at which point MCC can start to get the beam sorted to the halls. Full production beam is expected around the start of SWING shift this evening, and we shall be running the DIS calibration settings that we missed last Wednesday evening/Thursday morning from then on. Beam- (and now drive controller-) willing, we will have taken all of the data that we need by the start of DAY shift tomorrow - if this is the case, then we will move to 5-pass running at that point. If there are issues with taking the data that we need, then we will go to 5-pass during Thursday's DAY shift.


We will have an RC meeting at 11am in the Counting House conference room to discuss what we want to do for the end of the run, and to address any issues that have come up over the last 24 hours.
