[Hallc_running] Hall C RHEL9 Upgrade Plan

Hello Hall C collaborators,

Starting from tomorrow, we will upgrade the Hall C computers to RHEL9 step by step. Here is a draft schedule:

Oct. 17: “cdaql6”, “hcdesk1” will be upgraded to RHEL9, “cvideo1” will be renamed as “cvideo1-old”, and a new server will be built with RHEL9 to replace “cvideo1”.

Oct. 18 – Oct. 29: Test Period. Staff involved in the upgrade will test experimental critical applications on “cdaql6” and “hcdesk1”.

Oct. 30 - 31: Upgrade “cdaql1, cdaql2, cdaql4, cdaql5”, “hcdesk2, hcdesk3, hcdesk4”, “cvdieo2, cvidel3” to RHEL9.

Nov. 1 – Nov. 10: Test Period.

Nov. 11: Upgrade the rest of the machines: “cdaql3”, “hcdesk5”, “shmshut”, “ccompt1”.

We have staff assigned to test experimental critical applications. But if you have some specific things that you would like to test during those two test periods, please let me know and we can cooperate. Also, please let me know if you have any concerns or conflicts during this period.
