RC summary (Day 05/08/24 - Day 05/08/24)

What a good start to the week as RC...

In more optimistic news, the brief set of positron runs was completed yesterday with no issues, finishing at around 1600h. SWING shift started by rotating the S/HMS arms and preparing for DIS runs; due to the NMR taking a long time to settle, this was only completed at 1730h (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299767). During data taking on the Dummy target, the HMS insulation vacuum alarm went (only just) above the minor high set point (1.01e-5 vs 1e-5 HI setpoint), but as time went on, this slowly (~30 minutes) went down to below the alarm point. Heidi was called to ask about this, and we decided to take data anyway whilst keeping an eye on the vacuum pressures (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299770, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299787, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299857).

And then...

The big news from last night is that, at around 1930h, a HV issue reared its head for the RF separators, which was discovered to be due to the death of a Floating Deck Unit (I'm not sure what one of those does either) on the 4-pass line. From that point, the only spare module could be installed (which would take until the early hours of OWL shift), or we could just call off data taking for the night. Despite requesting that the module replacement be attempted, the PD informed me that this would not be happening due to the lateness of the hour (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299918). The separator for Hall C was bypassed so that Hall A could get their beam back, and I put the SL's for SWING and OWL shift on standby (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4299934).

The timeline for today's pass change was kept as-is (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300077), and the injector was taken down at 0830h. RadCon has completed their sweep of the hall (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300187), and we are now in Controlled Access. The technicians have started to head down to do the work that they had planned, and things are progressing smoothly.

We will meet at 1100h EST in the CH conference room to discuss the run plan for the coming days, and possible changes at the start of next week.
