RC summary (Day 05/09/24 - Day 05/10/24)

And we're back in production! (finally...)

The work in the hall during yesterday's DAY shift went smoothly enough; many things were fixed (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300219, https://logbooks.jlab.org/comment/49728#comment-49728), other things were found to need fixing (yet more additions to the SAD work list), and the gas sensor in the SHMS hut was replaced (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300295, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300286). Other than that, DAY shift was quiet, and we had no beam.

Early in SWING shift, the beam was returned to the accelerator, but work still needed to be done on steering to the halls. This was further delayed by one of the RF modules in each linac dropping; the work to correct these was complete by mid-shift. Unfortunately, Hall C was stopped by another issue: a beamline vacuum valve kept being opened by one of the ion pumps tripping. MCC accessed the hall and bypassed the interlock with approval from Dave Meekins (https://tasklists.jlab.org/atlis/tasks/112001, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300471). This was fixed, and beam was returned at just before 11pm.

Before OWL shift started, a strange issue was noticed with the target loop 3 power (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300602), but thanks to JP, this was fixed early in OWL (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300614, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300615). After noticing that the raster had not properly initialsed for 3-pass running, we requested that MCC reset it, and all looked good after that (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4300640). The rest of OWL shift progressed smoothly, and the HMS elastic cycle was taken since then. This morning started much the same, but at 0945h, we started a fan speed test with the assistance of Dave Meekins, which is still ongoing.

We will meet at 1100h EST in the CH conference room to discuss the run plan for the coming days, and possible changes at the start of next week.
