[Hallcsw] Summary of the Sept 18th Hall C 12 GeV software meeting

1) Brad has arranged for a seminar on the GIT version control software 
to be given on Oct 9th at JLab. Steve will look into having it broadcast
over EVO. More details will be given later.

2) The GIT repository for hcana has been setup at JLab. So now
the git repository on github will be a read-only mirror of
the JLab repository. Instructions have been updated on the wiki
at https://hallcweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/ROOT_Analyzer/Git

3) One recommendation of the software review was to
have number of "early adopters" test the new code.
So it would be useful if we could get volunteers to
do this. If you or a student are interested contact me
since I want to keep track of the issues that are raised.
Basically we need people to try the code not necessarily
write code at this point. It will be useful to have people
try it on the JLab machines and their university machines.
Tell us what documentation needs to be done or improved
 ( maybe help with documentation).

4) Another recommendation was to use code validation
suites like valgrind (http://valgrind.org/). If someone has
experience with the tools or similar types of packages,
contact Steve or me.
