Hi all,
Since we haven’t had a dedicated alpha minus meeting in a while here a brief update on a few things that happened:
Monitoring:
We had a very productive software meeting were we made a few decisions regarding how to access run dependent data for determining the helicities as well as how to store the information in our REST files.
Sean volunteered to help Ken with getting the data from the new decoder board into halld_recon. There are a few issues with the two data files that were provided to us by the DAQ group. Sean is trying to work out what is going on. As soon as that is done, Ken can take over.
Low E:
We had a meeting talking about the proposal to run at low energies. It was decided that we will propose to run with a coherent peak setting around 1.4GeV or so. Although the stats might be a little lower compared to the 2.9GeV setting we expect a similar result, as we are currently limited by systematics. Running at a lower coherent peak setting will be more useful for the other two parts of the proposal.
Also I want to make everyone aware of the scheduling memo that was send round yesterday (see attached). It shows that we are only scheduled to receive polarised beam from May onwards. Mark, would you be able to find out why we won’t get anything in the first ~7-8 weeks of running?
I am hoping to have a meeting next week Thursday. Hopefully there will be some progress on the data and a clearer picture around running conditions until then.
Cheers,
Peter
