Subject: Re: A brief update
Hi Elton:
I just came back from the BCAL-construction lab. The students have
already done five layers of lead and SciFi's. The Cu sheet on the
fiber sorting table has really helped a lot. The fibers do not
attract dust anymore and they don't fan out at their ends due to
static build-up. For anyone who doubted that there's much of static
electricity build-up, one of our students touched the grounding wire
and got zapped! :-)
As a side effect, the smooth and "slippery" nature of the pure Cu
surface makes it easier to bundle the fibers to their exact numbers to
be used on the grooved lead layer.
So far so good. Danny is ordering the parts for the second press
frame so we're moving along and we'll try to make up some lost time
before this crew of students finish their work terms at the end of
August.
Cheers,
George
