Subject: Re: few questions about the calorimeter (fwd)
Dear Lubomir,
I am sorry for some delay with response. I will leave
at CERN tomorrow and has few urgent problems, which should
be solved until my leaving.
We produced 900 Shashlik counters for
COMPASS two years ago. This counters were installed in
central part of second electromagnetic calorimeter of
COMPASS and successfully used during two beam runs in 2008
ad 2009.
Second electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL2) is well known
former GAMS-4000 detector, which was slightly modified for
COMPASS. You can find a description of ECAL2 in preprint
CERN-PH-EP/2007-001 or NIM A577(2007)455-518. ECAL2
consist of near 3000 lead glass blocks with size
38.2x38.2x450mm**3. Most part of this LG blocks were
produced in Protvino around 30 years. I think that you
used in GlueX experiment similar LG blocks.
I send a talk of my collegue Genagy Khaustov, who was
analysed our beam test results, on COMPASS collaboration
meeting. We measered an energy and space resolution for
Shashlik and LG counters at the same testing conditions.
As I said before, we replaced near 900 LG blocks on
Shashlik blocks inside COMPASS ECAL2 without any problems.
I design and developed this Shashlik blocks, as fully
compatibility with LG block, included all mechanical
parameters. I send a photo with Shashlik and lead glass
blocks which we used in COMPASS calorimeters.
Thank you very much for your interest to our results.
Best regards,
Vladimir.
