Hi,
The latest I know about concerning temperature measurements is as follows:
- CDC - 10 (?) thermocouple channels , I forget which type they settled
on (Naomi)
- BCAL - 96 RTD channels (Elton, Jim will present more information at a
Controls meeting)
- Start counter - 4-30 Type-T thermocouple channels (Fernando)
My understanding in all cases is that these are for monitoring/alarming
only, no feedback to any control systems.
Fernando is not sure whether they need to read out a few representative
start counter thermocouple channels or whether they need readouts from
all 30 boards. Note that all these channels come out upstream. We
should plan for either case.
One possibility is to run all these channels to a single box on top of
the magnet, perhaps a stand-alone CompactLogix system (n.b. SNS
confirmed the EPICS driver works with both ControlLogix and CompactLogix
PLC's). Or we could have a hybrid system containing CompactLogix,
ControlLogix, Point I/O and/or Flex I/O systems. Or...?
Thanks,

Sincerely,
Elliott
