Following requests from Fernando and Eugene, we developed software interlocks in EPICS that shut down VME and VXS crates in the hall and in the tagger hall based on the temperature measurements in order to protect the boards in the crates in case of HVAC failures. The system was tested this weekend. The current interlock configuration is such that ALL VME/VXS crates in Hall D and in the tagger hall belonging to Hall D will be shut down when the average temperature measured by the two sensors upstream and downstream of the solenoid is outside of the [62F,82F] range. The crates can be turned back on either when the interlock condition disappears or when the interlock is bypassed from the EPICS GUIs. There is flexibility of bypassing different groups of VME/VXS crates while leaving the interlock active for others. At this time all crates are expected to get shut off when the temperature goes beyond the allowed limits. The limits can be changed from the EPICS GUIs, the current li
mits were set based on my quick look at the MYA data on the temperature measurements this summer.
