we may have some network-related interruptions in the Hall on Thursday.
This may affect PLC and IOC-s, so we need watch our systems, in particular
solenoid, chiller and gas controls.

The scientific computing core move scheduled for Thursday will also cause one brief interruption for network traffic to the hall routers. Although the firewalls and switches are redundant, there is one point in the move process where a software upgrade will require a full restart of the routing gear, likely a 10 minute outage. We will work to minimize this. Phone service will be unaffected.

Dear All,

The Scientific Computing core move is rescheduled for Thursday, June 1. Systems will be unavailable during the day, while all infrastructure hosts move into their final home in the refurbished F112 Data Center -- including login servers, disk servers, farm and HPC clusters, gateways to offsite, DAQ, and desktops, data movers to the tape library, networks, as well as hosted services for OSG, Hepsim, and CLARA.

Please plan for this complete outage of services on June 1. We plan to return all services when the moves are complete at the end of the day.

Regards,
Sandy

Dear JLab Farm and HPC Users,

Updated information about next week's outage...

The Scientific Computing core move is postponed at least 2 weeks. Therefore, the complete systems outage scheduled for May 9 is no longer needed and is cancelled.

The MSS relocation is still on, starting Monday May 8.

Regards,
Sandy

JLab Scientific Computing outages scheduled for week of May 8

Jefferson Lab's HPC and ENP computing and storage systems are scheduled for outages during the week of May 8, to relocate within the updated Data Center in CEBAF Center F112.

The Mass Storage System, including the IBM TS3500 tape library and data movers, will be shut down on Monday May 8 and returned to service after all tapes have been unloaded, hardware moved, and tapes reloaded -- likely to take until Friday.

Also, on Tuesday May 9 all infrastructure systems will be moved into the new generator-backed location, making all systems unavailable while the hosts and disks servers are down. Please plan for these necessary interruptions during the week.

Regards,
Sandy
