Here's the roadmap regarding the Phar Lap end of life on the PXI controllers.

The biggest issue is that they're removing hardware and software support from all the NI software and we can't stay at older versions of LabVIEW indefinitely.

Fortunately things have improved on the software front since the last time I looked at using Linux on the newest controller we have, it seems both EPICS and Ethernet/IP support has been added. I'll need to install the latest NI software to verify, but this seems promising.

I think we'll need to order a new controller as a spare even if we have to end up using the old OS as they're still available this year. In a quick search I can't seem to find the exact model that we have, but a similarly spec'd one is $8390 with a lead time of 2-3 months.
