The main test is to confirm if NI RT Linux works okay with all the software/hardware. I have no reason to think it won't (unlike earlier tests which had obvious missing parts or errors), but would rather confirm that is the case.</div>

I don't think we've ever had the production and spare controllers be the same model so I don't think that will be an issue. Every time we've gone to place an order the previous controller has been discontinued or unsupported.</div>

Regarding the pricing of a PXI Controller. The current spare is a PXIe-8840 Quad-Core, which is no longer recommended for new designs. The replacement is a PXIe-8861 RT.<br>

Just for reference here is the pricing of those controllers:<br>

PXIe-8840 Quad-Core RT = $ 10,420.00<br>
PXIe-8861 RT = $ 8,390.00<br>
<br>
The 8861 has a newer generation CPU with more performance over the 8840. Along with the lower pricing I don't see any reason not to purchase that instead as we've never used the ExpressCard slot for anything and that's really the only functional difference.<br>

Currently the lead time is 80-85 days.<br>
