Present: Eugene Chudakov (chair), Hovanes Egiyan, Mark Ito (secretary),

Announcements, Eugene

* appraisal cycle at the next level, calibration next
* limit on number of vacation hours you can accumulate
+ hired before 10/2006: 384 hours
+ after that: 240 hours
+ by end of 2011: 240 hours for everyone
* final stage of submitting ETC change request
+ all should help if requested
+ daq, online need revision


Mark

* tagged version of the geometry, i. e., HDDS
* FSU MOU signed by all parties
* UMass MOU almost ready for concurrence chain
* made some updates to GlueX contact list
* added a few items to the Offline FAQ
* working with Dmitry on calibration database
* work on tracking


Hovanes

* worked on solenoid test, web interface
* worked on P6 rescheduling, especially online, daq, computing
schedule
* working on slow control development plan
+ university groups not all aware of slow controls plans
+ Eugene: most of detectors will be assembled here, slow
controls only needed here
* Eugene: talked to Sergey Boyarinov: 2 man-years to get DAQ ready


David

* Micah Veilleux defended his Master's thesis
* working on the workshop
+ got money from JSA Initiative Fund, less than 1/3 of request,
about par for the course
+ bringing in some speakers anyway
* working on cleaning up output of reconstruction code
+ looking at three pi events
+ map out error distributions, hit residuals
+ look also at efficiency, currently 36% for 3 pi events
* volunteered to follow neutral reconstruction code


Simon

* worked on new smearing functions for the FDC from Lubomir
* mcsmear program uses JCalibration class for FDC smearing
* fixing up tracking code: addressing problems seen by others in
simulations, bad χ^2 fits


Sascha

* FLUKA studies of radiation for BCAL: note in preparation
* neutron background simulation in tagger hall: note in preparation
+ tried putting in polyethylene to thermalize neutrons
o helps a lot
o 10 cm thick box walls
o factor 8 reduction in damage
o Eugene: can we live with SiPM? Sascha: still a few
millirem per hour, alternative read-out perhaps a better
choice
* worked on trigger schedule
* Eugene: would shielding help with BCAL? Sascha:
+ idea came from FLUKA guy, Alberto
+ have not looked at BCAL yet


Dmitry

* C++ API, alpha version released, will be used for:
+ web
+ jana
+ command-line tools
* Looked at wrapping API in Python, looks promising


Tim

* work on ETC for mechanical systems, adding realism
* Hall D getting ready to be turned over to us, next week
+ scheduled a walk through
+ work on the coo
+ scheduled alignment group
+ scheduled other work

* tagger magnet
+ RFB should go out soon
* Sascha: Slava wants guidance on puchasing of a stepper motor system
* Sascha: Slava wants guidance on design of motion stage for pair
spectrometer converters
* Eugene: plan for BIASOL? Tim: there is some stuff on the M drive on
this


Yi

* working on Labview for fast read-out for coil test
+ 250 ksamples/s
+ some channels hooked up
+ 60 Hz noise seen
+ next: create tools to browse data


Elliott

* Online Meeting on Wed. this week
+ will go over coil test stuff
* blue and white on web display: liquid He in system!
* preparing for powered operations
* we are a week ahead of cool down schedule
