+ polycarbonate
+ being checked with coordinate measuring machine
* tagger magnet
+ steel is forged
+ in week or so, into the oven for annealing
+ then machining
+ materials for coils almost all there
+ brazing sample to be done
* new COO for Hall D
+ not quite done yet
+ goes into effect with beneficial occupancy
* photon beam has sagged 2 inches
+ in the middle, between tagger building and Hall D

+ beneficial occupancy at same time as Hall D
+ electron beam dump installed late winter, early spring
+ beam line installed after tagger magnet arrives
+ Accelerator work to be finished before May down
Electronics, Eugene
* big FADC-250 contract should be awarded tomorrow
* FADC-125 schedule uncertain
+ hope that Gerard finalizes design by end of Dec., then go for
procurement
* discriminators close to being awarded
* TDC's are supposed to be procured in FY13, may be pushed forward
* trigger modules
+ procurement not started, but planning for it has
+ 100's of modules of each type
* pre-amp testing has not started
Online, Eugene
* bought network switches for DAQ
* needs more manpower
* Elliott: eliminating options, cutting down scope of study
* coordination with DAQ
+ Elliott: Hall's opening has siphoned off some manpower
+ Sascha: read-out of fadc125 not done yet
+ Sascha: they have been helping us when we have problems
Safety, Bert
* from Hovanes Egiyan, got the OSP for his DAQ control set-up in the
EEL
* new test set-ups need an OSP from now on
Test in Hall B, John, Sascha
* alignment changes made when access allows
* data being taken
* alignment and gain balance work in progress
* found a lot of features with boards
* discussion with Hall B: integrate crate into Hall B read-out to get
tagger information
* might want to move to higher energy at holiday down
* at 100 MeV for photons, 2.5 GeV primary electron beam
Offline, Mark
* BCAL reconstruction being done
+ new segmentation
+ new algorithm
* tracking changes on going
* PID work on drift chamber dE/dx
* on horizon: IT Review in May
* potential improvement projects:
+ low-level reconstruction diagnostics
+ standard calculation of single-particle efficiencies
+ develop standard fiducial cuts
FDC Construction, Vladimir
* working on checking FDC
* three[?] cells assembled
* at end of week first package done
* constructed low-voltage map for first package
* would like to continue this work, including assembling detector in
the Hall
FDC testing, Beni
* almost ready to get first package into test stand
* enough channels to read out almost all of the wires
* will look at global noise problems with large number of channels
* setting up for more-than-one crate read-out for the spring
BCAL, Elton
* test set-up: reworking boards, back at end of week
* prototypes for BCAL readout board should go out for fabrication
this week
* tooling for light guide gluing being made
* next week: readiness review at Santa Maria
+ data being taken
+ Yi: sees non-linearity in data
* full wedge to be assembled without light guides soon
* last modules plus baby BCAL in transit
Individual Reports
David
* online stuff mainly
* planning documents
* working with John to use FCAL beam test to develop software
+ interpreting FADC-250 data
Dmitry
* producing configuration database for Sascha
+ API, GUI, designed
+ specification needs to be written
* CCDB
+ Python upgraded on ifarm
+ tests successful
+ install scripts written
* wrote scripts to check use of CCDB in user code
Nerses
* finished with discriminator drivers for Linux
+ waiting for Sergey Boyarinov to implement in Hall B
+ working on documentation
* planning organization of EPICS software
* will work on HV control next
Ivan
* problems with flash ADC, at higher rates
* finishing study of time resolution dependence on number of photo
electrons
Sascha
* testing scalar implementation for flash, new firmware
* working with Ivan on timing
* working with Dmitry on database specification
* beam-line activity:
+ have final drawings for pair spectrometer
+ Chuck has drawing for spectrometer detector
+ PCB design delayed, Fernando busy
Beni
* last week traveled to FSU, worked on TOF prototype
* solved a lot of problems
* number of photo-electrons from minimum ionizing particle about 450
* they are running with non-optimal coupling from scintillator to
phototube
* signal very fast, both rise and fall, falls to 20% after 25 ns
* needs to re-do current estimates for high-rate counters
* not sure about 8-stage vs. 10-stage
Mark
* developed an Ubuntu build procedure
* started discussions on SiPM placement for start counters
* cleaned up nightly build errors/warnings
