    Present: Vladimir Berdnikov, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Nerses Gevorgyan,

Announcements, Eugene

      * current budget in place until Dec. 16, management not too worried
      * Dec. 8, Physics Holiday Party
      * Dec. 8, 8:30 am: strategic planning session
           + Eugene will present all things beyond the scope of 12 GeV
           + level 3 farm
           + Cerenkov
           + high-resolution FCAL
      * appraisals have been submitted, calibration meeting not yet held

Engineering, Tim

      * upstream platform installed
      * downstream designed, being reviewed
      * solenoid platform, basic design done, will be run by Cryo
      * tagger vacuum chambers statement of work done and signed off
           + cleaning and fab specification signed off
           + PR is next
      * target work continues with target group
      * mock up
           + almost together
           + with exoskeleton
           + by tomorrow or Wed.
           + will do cable handling exercise
      * BCAL modules expected Tue. or Wed.
      * Swiss cheese plate for CDC is in
           + polycarbonate
           + being checked with coordinate measuring machine
      * tagger magnet
           + steel is forged
           + in week or so, into the oven for annealing
           + then machining
           + materials for coils almost all there
           + brazing sample to be done
      * new COO for Hall D
           + not quite done yet
           + goes into effect with beneficial occupancy
      * photon beam has sagged 2 inches
           + in the middle, between tagger building and Hall D
      * schedule for working in tagger hall:
           + beneficial occupancy at same time as Hall D
           + electron beam dump installed late winter, early spring
           + beam line installed after tagger magnet arrives
           + Accelerator work to be finished before May down

Electronics, Eugene

      * big FADC-250 contract should be awarded tomorrow
      * FADC-125 schedule uncertain
           + hope that Gerard finalizes design by end of Dec., then go for
             procurement
      * discriminators close to being awarded
      * TDC's are supposed to be procured in FY13, may be pushed forward
      * trigger modules
           + procurement not started, but planning for it has
           + 100's of modules of each type
      * pre-amp testing has not started

Online, Eugene

      * bought network switches for DAQ
      * needs more manpower
      * Elliott: eliminating options, cutting down scope of study
      * coordination with DAQ
           + Elliott: Hall's opening has siphoned off some manpower
           + Sascha: read-out of fadc125 not done yet
           + Sascha: they have been helping us when we have problems

Safety, Bert

      * from Hovanes Egiyan, got the OSP for his DAQ control set-up in the
        EEL
      * new test set-ups need an OSP from now on

Test in Hall B, John, Sascha

      * alignment changes made when access allows
      * data being taken
      * alignment and gain balance work in progress
      * found a lot of features with boards
      * discussion with Hall B: integrate crate into Hall B read-out to get
        tagger information
      * might want to move to higher energy at holiday down
      * at 100 MeV for photons, 2.5 GeV primary electron beam

Offline, Mark

      * BCAL reconstruction being done
           + new segmentation
           + new algorithm
      * tracking changes on going
      * PID work on drift chamber dE/dx
      * on horizon: IT Review in May
      * potential improvement projects:
           + low-level reconstruction diagnostics
           + standard calculation of single-particle efficiencies
           + develop standard fiducial cuts

FDC Construction, Vladimir

      * working on checking FDC
      * three[?] cells assembled
      * at end of week first package done
      * constructed low-voltage map for first package
      * would like to continue this work, including assembling detector in
        the Hall

FDC testing, Beni

      * almost ready to get first package into test stand
      * enough channels to read out almost all of the wires
      * will look at global noise problems with large number of channels
      * setting up for more-than-one crate read-out for the spring

BCAL, Elton

      * test set-up: reworking boards, back at end of week
      * prototypes for BCAL readout board should go out for fabrication
        this week
      * tooling for light guide gluing being made
      * next week: readiness review at Santa Maria
           + data being taken
           + Yi: sees non-linearity in data
      * full wedge to be assembled without light guides soon
      * last modules plus baby BCAL in transit

Individual Reports

   David

      * online stuff mainly
      * planning documents
      * working with John to use FCAL beam test to develop software
           + interpreting FADC-250 data

   Dmitry

      * producing configuration database for Sascha
           + API, GUI, designed
           + specification needs to be written
      * CCDB
           + Python upgraded on ifarm
           + tests successful
           + install scripts written
      * wrote scripts to check use of CCDB in user code

   Nerses

      * finished with discriminator drivers for Linux
           + waiting for Sergey Boyarinov to implement in Hall B
           + working on documentation
      * planning organization of EPICS software
      * will work on HV control next

   Ivan

      * problems with flash ADC, at higher rates
      * finishing study of time resolution dependence on number of photo
        electrons

   Sascha

      * testing scalar implementation for flash, new firmware
      * working with Ivan on timing
      * working with Dmitry on database specification
      * beam-line activity:
           + have final drawings for pair spectrometer
           + Chuck has drawing for spectrometer detector
           + PCB design delayed, Fernando busy

   Beni

      * last week traveled to FSU, worked on TOF prototype
      * solved a lot of problems
      * number of photo-electrons from minimum ionizing particle about 450
      * they are running with non-optimal coupling from scintillator to
        phototube
      * signal very fast, both rise and fall, falls to 20% after 25 ns
      * needs to re-do current estimates for high-rate counters
      * not sure about 8-stage vs. 10-stage

   Mark

      * developed an Ubuntu build procedure
      * started discussions on SiPM placement for start counters
      * cleaned up nightly build errors/warnings
      * getting signatures for UMass MOU at JLab
      * Hall D wiki "private" feature fixed
      * FSU contract: final versions of SOW and scintillator specification
        signed, ready for PR
      * worked on CCDB testing with JANA

   Elton

      * spare solenoid
      * package almost ready to go to procurement
      * design/build contract
      * Eugene: new coil: dry, old coil: wet

   Elliott

      * working on documents
      * maintenance mod e-log for hardware started
      * database of manuals created
      * meeting on log books was held, all Halls
      * UPS coming on schedule
      * most of Cisco order here
      * CODA 3 in January perhaps
      * network in trailer?
      * online using mantis system
      * accelerator archiver, needs to be interfaced to css
      * looking to be using css for run control
      * quench detector going well
           + what we have will work
           + now understand problem that we had during the test
           + Floyd Martin's calculation good enough to understand range we
             need
      * sending Josh to AB school
      * tested new AB modules
      * controls meeting tomorrow for magnet safety/redundancy in controls
      * need to decide how to instrument full coil test
