o priorities need to be set
o identify stuff we need for testing
# detector testing
# solenoid commissioning
* last thursday walk through of remaining buildings
+ Hall D had been walked through already
+ service building, houses
o tagger power supply
o lcw plant
+ counting house

o halld and counting house not properly connected,
expansion joints needed
o cryo plant not insulated from elements
o should be ready in about a month, 1st of december
* access for personnel to on-site buildings
+ construction site right now
+ during work in hall same requirements may apply
+ everyone should get steel toe shoes
+ to get to site need RW-I, ODH training

available
* budget
+ no news yet
+ most likely will get a cut for 12 GeV
+ direction: buy as usual before January

Electronics, Fernando

* full layer of FDC to be instrumented with pre-amps for checking
with oscilloscope
* flash125: meeting with Gerard Visser tomorrow
* F1tdc: go out for prototypes before Christmas
* flash125: hopefully the same
* flash250: 4 companies selected, pricing submitted
* a lot of vacation to burn
* start counter, pair spectrometer: work to do
* SiPM electronics: 2 PC boards should be OK; 1 more to look at
+ read-out, 16 channels, replicating needs to be done
+ Jack iterated on bias control, email from him just now, work
in progress

Engineering, Tim

* tagger magnet steel has been poured, 4 billets, going for annealing
+ permeability testing being set-up
+ mold for coils for tagger made
+ Oct. 30 milestones nearing completion
* upstream platform
+ vendor arrived today
+ will start erecting tomorrow
* civil construction continues
* additional platforms
* tagger vacuum box
* pair spectrometer magnet: two pieces of rectangular steel will be
bolted on, defined, need drawings
+ two different vacuum chambers being considered, working with
Sascha, Giles writing power supply specification based on
Accelerator Division example
* tests gluing light-guides to BCAL modules: some good success
+ Regina is shipping Bcal slices, can be used for gluing tests
* mock-up of CDC, FDC, several sections of cables on it
+ will fool around with sliding cables around
* beam-line vacuum in collimator cave being welded up

BCAL Read-Out, David

* developing solid evidence for need of adding layer for
segmentation, from 3-3-4 to 1-2-3-4
* several approaches
* trouble getting quantitative numbers for the case
* improvements for timing of EM shower seen
* improvements for cluster finding harder to quantify
* neutron efficiency improvement being studied
* full draft by next week, hopefully

FDC, Lubomir

* work has stopped, power down at Blue Crab
+ power went down last week as well
* work on second package started
* first package: noise on top cell shows similar noise problem as
seen before
* bubblers discussed with collaborators
+ experience: bad bubbler was tried, when flow increased stopped
bubbling, pressure in chamber increased
+ when bubbler replaced problem not seen
* planning move of 1st package: holding brackets are attached, need
pre-amps to attach cooling tubes to one layer
+ what about other five layers?
+ need to remove holding brackets to attache pre-amps

CDC, Beni

* CMU stringing about 60 wires a day
+ 3 mos behind, perhaps may make up a month with stringing
* next: swiss cheese, cabling, actual schedule uncertain
* CDC delivery was put as late as possible
* date arranged with Paul Eugenio for a visit to FSU to look at TOF
+ week of 29th of Nov.
* stand for fdc testing
+ waiting for translator board
+ waiting for 5 last TDC's
+ other than that, everything in hand

Calorimetry, New Solenoid, Elton

* mechanical pieces coming in
* received all SiPM's that are coming to JLab
+ rest go to Santa Maria, should have arrived last week, but
probably 1st week of December
* need to prepare readiness review, Dec 15 tentatively
* will ship 30 more SiPM's from first-article shipment so that they
can set up test set-up
* working on RFP for spare solenoid
+ have that out to procurement before Ettore Salpietro's 3-month
getaway in Dec.
+ Richard Getz is working on drawings
+ want to wind the coils the easy way, not the hard way

FCAL Test, John, Sascha

* John: Matt Shepherd will come down with prototype FCAL module, 5x5
array with 3x3 in trigger, coming this week
+ tests over weekend with cosmics generally successful
* Sascha: VXS crate in F117, TID, SD boards, three flashes, allow for
realistic timing, distribution of signals on backplane, add two
more to working one today
* in touch with Hall B to coordinate location of electronics and data
acquisition configuration
* another VXS crate for F117 for timing: Linux controller, TID board,
CAEN 25-ps TDC, DAQ is working
* prototype for pair spectrometer, drawings being made, using plastic
tiles for detector

Pixel Recovery Time Tests, Ivan

* gave talk at last SiPM meeting, showed results
* checked with different delays, now get 17 ns for 50 μm, 8.5 ns for
25 μm
* pixel recovery time consistent with Hamamatsu prediction
* working on rate dependence measurement
+ saw decreasing of amplitude of signal
+ from 1 MHz to 10 MHz goes down by 50%
+ Fernando: response of LED, convolved with SiPM (or PMT),
pre-amp
o PMT response peaks
o SiPM rolls off at high frequency
+ laser should be here by end of month, OSP will be needed,
interlocks needed, training needed, entrance to room will be
restricted

SiPM Testing, Yi

* testing of SiPM's, about ready, could start testing soon

assembly, 3 or 4 weeks

Electronics, Cody

* pre-amp stuff: want to transition from manual test to test stand
next week
* translator boards: have parts and boards, sending out for assembly
