Announcements, Eugene

      * The Lab will cut budget by 7%, exact meaning is not known
+ 12 GeV activities told to go ahead as if nothing is going to
             happen
           + operations will be affected
+ caused by sequestration (automatic cuts of spending by
             congressional agreement)
+ despite this, Rolf Ent signed the position request
      * Hall D and the 12 GeV schedule
+ we have slipped past couple of months, 0.5 million behind
+ several things are late: BCAL, magnet for tagger, electronics
             (part of it)
+ we should try to advance procurements if possible
+ also concentrate on work we can claim
      * Hall governance document, one for all halls, has been developed
+ entry to Hall D will not require TLD
+ there is a requirement that work coordinator report at regular
             weekly meeting

Construction, Tim

      * solenoid magnet power supply moved into position, getting ready to
        be wired in
      * tagger magnet due in at begining of Nov., vacuum chamber just
        before that
      * downstream platform: re-weld of crooked piece done
      * cryo platform: being erected in parking lot
      * pair spectrometer stand design and analysis done
      * vacuum stuff for solenoid test on order: additional pumps, etc.
      * FCAL frame will ship soon from IU, then welded to platform
      * counting house electrical work near done
      * gantry for tagger magnet: stress analysis done, small adjustment to
        design required
      * will paint solenoid this afternoon: red and blue
      * BCAL rails came in, will be installed
      * carts for FDC, CDC: 3 or 4 weeks out
      * cryo can due at end of the month

FDC, Lubomir

      * corrosion issue
+ can reproduce effect visually using o-ring pressed against
             kapton, with moisture
+ observe same residue around o-ring, only for EPDM, not much
for Viton, nothing for Viton with vacuum grease
+ thinks we are safe with Viton and grease
+ more tests with production chambers and small scale prototype,
             no moisture

    studies continue
      * cathodes: some channels (3 to 5% of them), contacts done with
one-sided conductive tape, resistance changes with mechanical
        deformation, signal does not change
+ question: will it get worse over time
+ variations in surface density of silver-coated glass balls
noted, pressure moves location of balls
      * grounding clips came in, being installed on package 3
      * packages 3 and 4 being flushed with nitrogen.
      * 4 cells done on package 4
      * using spare 14 sets to build frames
+ removing foils from first package

BCAL, Elton

      * light guides are behind schedule, 3 months behind project schedule
+ seems like they are about to start production

+ hoping for two sets soon to finalize gluing procedure and
             set-up procedure
           + substantial quantities next month
+ if production starts next month may be able to meet the
             project schedule

to different boards, in preparation for populating them
      * fixture for mounting led board designed

BCAL electronics, Fernando

      * originally, dynamic range for signal of 400, some ringing seen, i.
e., ground bounce, increasing thickness of copper layer fixed it
+ also increased dynamic range of SiPM's, originally 20 k
photons, need to increase to 50 k
+ ready to test in a week from today
      * lemo cables decided on
      * by end of next week, should be ready with two modules
      * power per board will be 30% lower

        agency
+ looking at safety and work process of Hall D group
           + three hour interview
+ goes with work process and methods that we have been using
             over the last few years
+ done every six months to get certified
+ will audit Hall D extra work process
      * the Hall continues to operate safely.
      * incident in Hall B: taking contractors down, group from facilities
and procurement did not have TLD's
