Folks,

Stuff has now been moved from /group/halld to /group/halld_engineering,
in other words, from M:\halld to M:\halld_engineering .

Subject: new group disk: halld_engineering

Request:
We would like to create a new top-level group directory:
/group/halld_engineering. This is so that its contents, and thus its
quota can be managed independently of /group/halld .

o No new Unix group need be created.
o The directory /group/halld_engineering should contain all of the
current contents (files and directories) of /group/halld/engineering .
o One special-case directory: /group/halld/Solenoid should be moved to
/group/halld_engineering/Solenoid .
o The modification times of all files should be preserved.
o The manager of the new disk will be Tim Whitlatch (whitey at jlab.org).
o The initial quota should be 70 GB. That is about twice the current
contents of /group/halld/engineering and /group/halld/Solenoid .

I have talked to Tim Whitlatch, Elliott Wolin, and Andy Kowalski about
this. No fundamental objections have been raised. There may be minor
adjustments for individuals, but we think they are indeed minor. Unix
soft-links and Windows shortcuts will be created to help ease the
transition.
