Announcements

* Lehman review speakers: Elton, Jonathan Creel, Tim Whitlatch,
Eugene
* change request, i. e., ETC, to be done in March
+ there may be changes before then, but no definite plan for
them at present

Construction

* cool down duing the second half of December

• tagger magnet close to finished
*
+ Tim will visit vendor next week
+ will not be delivered before Jan.

Bert

* a Hall D, technician, working on cryo inserts, developed muscle
spasms in his back from working in a static position, a recordable
injury
+ if you find yourself in an unnatrual work position, think of
options: seating, equipment
+ Dr. Chandler may address this, industrial ergonomics, in a
talk
* another back injury occurred requiring first aid, not recordable
+ was correctly reported to Medical Services, do the same if it
happens to you

David

* working on reading in the raw data format
+ close to done

Lubomir

* moved 3rd package to EEL
* first package put on strongback
+ last week tested completely
+ will start with installation of cooling system
+ will be moved to 126 for testing
* EEL: will have 2 AC units installed, additional 20 kW capacity
* moved parts for fourth package to installation table
+ Vlad will test the week after thanksgiving
* for second package: have daughter cards, received 6 pairs of foils,
need workers
* tests in 126: efficiency and resolution is OK on strips,
+ found noise last week, coming from F1 TDCs, even with cables
disconnected
+ wire resolution measurement with three cathodes planes into
ADCs, can compare to wire time
o get about 200 microns in good part of the cell

Dmitry

* new CCDB tag announced: 0.05
+ installed on CUE machines
+ some new features added, including access control scheme
* trigger database: communication with Vardan for overall online
system
* ROOT-based event display: HDDS geometry can be used

Vladimir

* corrosion test # 3 running for several days now
+ when finished, with activation energy and temperature in Hall,
can estimate lifetime
+ will continue tests in Moscow

Ivan

* SiPM radiation tests
+ average dark rate increase 30 MHz after exposure in Hall B
+ average neutron dose 3 rem, 300 rem of EM dose
* fast controls, with Chuck and Sascha
* gluing fibers for pair spectrometer to tiles
+ will use optical epoxy

Sascha

* ready for contract award to UConn, small legal matter remains
* all documents submitted for Catholic, RFP issued soon
* hodoscope: working with Dan Sober on finalizing positions
+ played with magnetic field map, some issues with geant
tracking
* Hamamatsu confirmed: sending two PMTs at beginning of Dec., price
is now $500 per tube, 70$ for dividers
* Hamamatsu has confirmed delivery of 3mmx3mm SiPMs, will send Nov.
27, 270 pieces per month going forward
+ we will need to test them
* working on pair spectrometer: received fibers, tiles, glue,
thinking about wrapping
+ will go to Blue Crab and measure flatness of tiles
* trigger: working on initialization procedure with Vardan and
Dmitry, system will see state machine

Simon

* working on geometry
+ improvements to FDC geometry, some differences from as-built
+ CDC similar changes
+ reading geometry from XML
* working on understanding resolution from timing, started from drift
time and wire info, adding in strip information
+ need better understanding of time-to-distance relationship

Mark

* start counter PR submitted and signed
* work on several areas of data challenge
* TOF: FSU continues to test PMTs, 128 done so far
+ issue with quantum efficiency not resolved in FSU set-up

Elton

* IU contract extended to work on dark box
* extensions for BCAL
+ on hold: test setup, Danny will dismantle in April
* mechanical parts for BCAL ordered from manufacturer
+ will get enough for two boards, can go on to second board when

* SiPMs are in customs in Chile except for last 10 extra ones
+ can now assign to bins and produce jumper boards

Elliott

* 4x16 core box installed in counting house
* infiniband switch received, Dave Abbott will set that up
* configuration of box is underway
+ DAQ software installed
+ will inject events into ET ring, send to online monitoring
programs
