      * management pushing us to finish the solenoid early
           + want to start cool down in November
           + will have to work two shifts, techs will be taken from other
             projects, FDC and BCAL in particular
      * Hall D position has been advertised
           + some applications have come in

Lubomir

      * trying to use techs now before they disappear
      * cathodes for 1st three cells for package one, focus, start next
        week
      * delay: decision on corrosion problem amelioration
           + corrosion happens over time,
           + EPDM worst, especially with humidity
           + even Viton corrodes under extreme conditions
           + tried to glue Kapton film at o-ring location, use Hysol with
             epoxy, no go
           + tried to just coat with epoxy, epoxy spreads too much
           + use vacuum grease to anchor vacuum grease
           + made a chamber for testing methods
           + concern about oxygen content of chamber gas
           + accelerate corrosion to test lifetime of solution
      * also need wire frames for the fourth package
      * after 1st package, switch to fourth package
      * December: 2nd package

Beni

      * package 3 is in test stand
           + HV went to nominal except for one sector
           + analog signals on cathodes look good
           + oxygen sensor at Blue Crab, efficiency measured, look
             reasonable
      * problem with strip read-out, flash 125, data acquisition hangs
      * similar problem with Motorola CPU's, but Linux does not recover
           + can now read out ADC without crashing, but may be losing
             synchronization
           + as long as one ADC used that is OK
           + ADC firmware does not allow more than one board per crate
           + Cody is working on the problem
      * HV system, last week, weird behavior, CAEN 1550, tripped, some
        channels, jumped to 2500 volts, cannot ramp to 100 V

Calorimeters, Elton

      * Fernando Barbosa, Nick Sandoval, and Chris Cuevas put together
        first two production read-out modules
           + nicer design, easier to assemble
           + u-boards, several of them, had a trace that caused a short.
           + 4000 of them in total
           + check-out finished today
           + brought over to ESB
           + bringing the DAQ up there now
      * first two sets of light guides arrived from Santa Maria
           + visually look nice
      * plan for gluing? (Eugene)
           + light guides need to be checked
           + modifications to jig for gluing in the works
           + then can start dry runs
           + do not have led board yet
                o should be here in mid-September
                o last meeting report: by the end of this week, will be
                  shipped
                o need led boards before gluing starts

Trigger, Sascha

      * two-crate trigger test set-up in F117
      * second crate started smoking
           + Ed Jastrzembski and Dave Abbott took a look
           + could be a problem with controller
                o will send CPU back to manufacturer

           + Procurement tells us he is busy with first week of classes
      * fixed array: size of scintillator not fixed yet

             comments, in 12 GeV office
      * EPICS support needed for CAEN 1495, two modules bought for control
        system
      * other boards that need epics support in DAQ
           + will use asyn driver
           + using epics support for Struck scalers, bug in code that

      * Ben Raydo gave a tutorial on how to program FPGA's: very steep
        learning curve
      * electronics installation in hall and counting room: what is overall
        schedule? (Eugene)
           + first need network in the counting house, Bryan Hess is busy
