+ one output for flash, one for TDC
+ will also use for thick counters of pair spectrometer
o 300 or 400 p. e.
+ checked temperature stability
+ put in housing run for a week, gets to 40-50 C
+ in final design need heat dissipation, perhaps copper strips
* next: design of scintillator and light guides
+ Franz has a design, with the position along focal plane

+ meetings with Tim for mounting fixtures for high and low
granularity counters
o Chuck will do design
+ 18 counters, PMTs are here
+ Fernando on space: suggests EEL 126,
+ Elton: black box needed for SiPM testing. Sascha: but there
are two black boxes
* trigger
+ working on CDP, implementing playback mode, going slowly,
+ CTP has not arrived yet, 4 CTPs exist at Lab
+ Ben has done SSP firmware, can release at any time
* we have received all SiPMs for start counter microscope and pair
spectrometer
David
* working on simulation for charged pion polarizability proposal
+ Rory gave update this morning
+ draft document by middle of this week
* Curtis wants computing resource numbers for GlueX proposals
+ there is a question on computing units requested in form for
proposals
* Fernando has produced spreadsheet with
detector-channel-to-geography info
+ will start working on translation table
+ can inventory database do this? Sasha: does not have
everything in it
Simon
* last week at APS
* working on recoil proton reconstruction for eta decay proposal
* including CDC into alignment procedure, work has started
Beni
* F1-TDC from Ed: will get some to use
* talked to Cody this morning: he has tested 30 FADC-125s
+ he is also developing test stand
+ he needs to program eprom, will do this this week, early next
week
+ with 2 modules can test multi-module read-out
+ CMU will have same config so the remote debugging possible
+ in two weeks, send 3 modules to CMU
* at CMU: running CDC with one ADC, 72 channels, can power 10 pre-amp
channels at a time with HV
+ they have looked at about half the channels as of last week
Lubomir
* was not on a boat last week
* want to prepare everything for test with full electronics
* restoring all subsystems on 3rd package: grounding, hv, cooling
tubes, almost ready
+ cooling manifold being installed by Casey, but needs to be
connected to chiller and do not have all parts needed
+ most being used in chiller test
+ will wait for those tests to complete to fully cool package,
hopefully by end of week
* Bill found that output pressure from chiller too high, had to
install valve to reduce pressure, has not tried flourinert yet
+ on Thursday, Bill will continue with test
o flourinert tends to leak where water does not
* preparing mock up for practicing cabling at Blue Crab, have two
carts, cable holder installed on one
+ plan to put in real packages, cable three of them
* recently got mail from Vladimir Berndikov on corrosion tests at
Moscow
+ almost all of the samples failed in one day: solder problem
after 70 days
+ lower limit on chamber life: between 3 and 5 years
Mark
* Offline
+ sent computing requirements to Graham
+ fixed problem with nightly builds, now builds with JANA 0.6.6.
+ met with Johann and Yelena on CCDB, prompted a new release,
they seem happy now
+ problem with CCDB and the b1pi job, turned out some test code
got checked in by mistake
+ mail was bouncing from IU collaboration email list,
JLab-originating only when coming back to JLab
* Start Counter
+ confirmed that we need not account for wrapping on start
counter in drawings
+ still waiting on terms and conditions from FIU
+ bending and cutting scintillator for CLAS 6: done by Eljen for
Youri
* TOF
+ readiness review report written
+ Tim has started TOF assembly meetings
* Electronics
+ waived need for second readiness review at UMass for F1TDC
testing
* Online
+ made a presentation for a conditions database for the online
+ For Elliott: he has a scons-based build system running
o directories and accounts worked out
o has programs being built by the system
Elton
* attended APS, GHP last week
+ gave talk on GlueX
+ well attended
* helping out with writing proposal for charged pion polarizability
+ lot of work done, still work to do
* main issue with BCAL: trouble with light guides separating from
BCAL matrix
+ think problem understood, talked to Mike Norland, maker of the
glue
o symptom of adhesive failure, if surface cured
non-uniformly, shrinkage not uniform creates stresses in
glue layer, if not tight, can pull off
+ improvements in method
1. light guides are polished, will roughen surface with 600
grit paper
2. provide more uniform illumination
# previously shining near base
# looking at bringing light up higher into the light
guide
# end is being pressed when initial gluing done, light
cannot be come from the end
# Drew's group has experience, Carl Zorn came over,
had a meter that records intensity of light, if
illuminated from higher up on light guide, light
down by factor of 100 from intensity at the probe
itself
3. may be undercuring, will increase curing time
+ all three will be instituted
+ simple test for light transmission: radiometer on one end, LED
on other end
o one modules that had many failures showed 10%
reproducibility with this test
o bottom and top rows have mechanical blockage on some
parts of area
+ 3/4 of all modules done: need to fix a large number of them
o some have major problems, some minor
o one-light-guide-problems can be fixed in Hall
+ right after gluing always looks good, 12 hours later problems
arise, discovered in Hall often
* light pulser system: programming for vme modules almost complete
+ question: use extra crates in hand or order new ones?
* Matt asked about contract for IU, wants to extend by one month too
complete work this summer with students
Yi
* solenoid PXS system is ready, alarm signal generated for PLC
+ fake signal capability developed for testing
* automatic mapping logger software ready except for laser distance
problem
+ got the cable today
* goniometer: moved to Hall A helium-3 lab in EEL
+ it is working
+ set up optics to measure resolution of goni
+ Ken L. is here, visited and toured and discussed
* finished first draft of LDRD proposal, Carl Z. is proofing text
Hovanes
* last 2 weeks: worked with Ben on pulser system
+ based on CAEN 1495 board
+ Ben wrote FPGA program
+ VME program written
+ some features not implemented yet,
o does not stop at same time
+ Tara can work on it
* goni, EPICS interface, 5 stages, seems to be working
+ Ken has program used in Hall B, trying connection to EPICS,
his stuff ROOT-based
+ Yi has sensor with laser and with Labview-to-EPICS interface
can close the loop
* counting house
+ big screens and small screens arrived, in CH now
+ some servers, general purpose, have arrived
+ consoles ordered, being constructed, detail questions from
manufacturer coming in
