Eugene
* status of possible promotions uncertain, will know more in January
* safety issue and possible delay of commissioning
+ incident with U-tube, cryo group
+ safety being reviewed
+ Mont send email alerting us to possible delay in schedule
* budget has arrived for Physics
+ enough for 1 month, maybe 2
+ larger than pure CR amount
+ only mission critical travel allowed still
* accelerator readiness review
+ will likely implement single-pass beam first
+ Elton has initial commissioning plan in place
o will be reviewed by small group
o then presentation to beamline working group
o then to the collaboration as a whole
+ initial accelerator plan is 2 nA to tagger hall, with
emittance five times worse than spec
* PAC41
+ original plan was re-prioritization only
+ by popular demand, new proposals will be entertained
+ prioritization will be addressed by a later exercise of some
sort
o Hall leaders and spokespersons will have to generate a
short form summary of approved program
o includes consideration of compatibility with other
experiments
+ big projects will have particular difficulty because of budget
environment
* Amtec having problems with F125 and CTP production
+ one quarter to one third of the boards are not fixable
+ Fernando and others in phone conference with the company
+ soldering issues with the FPGAs
+ problems appear in batches
* regular charging to the 12 GeV accounts can resume for this month
Beni
* the CDC is here
+ on gas several days
+ signals seen
+ 50 mV peak-to-peak noise
+ gas pressure at 1/2 inch of water
+ one of six lines feeding input from upstream to downstream
being used to monitor pressure at downstream gas volume
David
* work on preparations for software review
+ manpower survey shows increase of factor of two over estimate
from mid-2012, was 23 FTE-years, now 45 FTE-years, integrated
over three years
+ added manpower from Northwestern, Regina, FSU, CMU
+ planned activities has additions as well: Geant4, analysis of
reconstructed data, quality assurance contributions
Hovanes
* counting house
+ new machines have arrived, Paul Letta configuring them
+ transitioning old functions to new hardware: level 3 farm,
raid
* radiator foils
+ reviewed Hall B inventory with Steve Christo
+ they are thin in the items we want; may have to order our own
+ they used Al for 10^{-5}, Au for 10^{-4}, Pt for 10^{-3}
+ Al has crinkles, Youri Sharabian has method for straightening
them
+ Goodfellow: company that can provide foils in the shape we
want
+ Sascha: want to use pair spectrometer for absolute luminosity
measurement
+ will need radiator by April
* want to start cabling collimator stage
+ need power to racks under platform
* measured length of cables for profiler
+ need HV, LV, signal cables
+ need to calibrate with a source
* obtained 20 PMTs from Hall A for halo counters, need 11
+ 3 in tagger hall, 4 in collimator cave, 4 in hall
+ need to build enclosure, mounting bracket, provide HV control
* reviewing plan for UPS in tagger hall
+ for motor controllers and network switches
+ gives ability to retract in-beam devices soon after power out
Tim
* tagger hall electronics rack location
+ previous location near vacuum box flange, relatively high
radiation area
+ will try to get short racks and put them under magnet instead
+ for microscope and hodoscope
* target
+ test two weeks ago with liquid Ne; looked good
+ can get away with less H2 than originally planned, tank can be
in the hall
* start counter parts in for constructing support structure
* chilled water system installation underway, leak checking in
progress
* N2 system designed, parts are in hand
* air system, design nearly complete
* cooling for CDC being readied
* tagger magnet mapping
+ system operational as far as motion
+ switch problem did not flip magnet over
* hodoscope support plates in, being fiducialized by survey and
alignment
* FDC inserted in BCAL
+ working on system to measure location of all 4 packages while
inside the BCAL
+ Bill and Yi looking at laser system used in solenoid mapping
* TOF: first half of modules on the way here from FSU
+ will unload Wed. morning
* racks in hall: 2 more to go
* cable trays 90% done
* pair spectrometer mapping fixture our for fabrication
* big gas panel for CDC, FDC installed, most of stuff in gas shed
installed
+ gas system ready in month or two
* AC power: getting help from electricians
+ outlets for FCAL due on Fri.
* insertion devices for beamline devices sent back to manufacturer,
fabrication issues
* pair converter: insertions sticks, foil holder came in
* tagger mapping should start next week
Mark D.
* installing CODA in the hdops account, in preparation for FCAL
testing
* preparing for online data challenge
+ will take data from front-end electronics all the way to tape
library
Simon
* continuing work on alignment with straight tracks
* looking at the 5% crash rate with reconstruction jobs
Mark I.
* preparations for software review
+ review documents
+ provided timeline to Graham for CPU needs
* new release of sim-recon ready to go
* converted our Subversion repository to git and uploaded to the
GitHub site as a test
Sascha
* Ivan looked at cosmics with fine-grain tiles, measured light
collection
+ expect 50-60 p. e. per hit
+ all tiles arrived beginning of Sep.
+ will proceed with fabrication in a week or two
+ final drawings were produced by Chuck last week
* diamond procurement
+ UConn wants us to proceed with Element 6
+ also in contact with Cornell guy who dealt with E6
* trigger stuff
+ Sergey P. has developed configuration files, same as Hall B
+ waiting on feedback from Ben Raydo on GTP algorithm
+ hardware installed in hall for FCAL testing
* trigger monitors for F250
+ need monitors for each trigger subsystem
+ based on scalars
* Elton: has there been discussion on data format for F250 like that
for F125?
Sergey
* has generic configuration files
* completed preparations for FCAL read-out
Elton
* looking at commissioning beamline
+ schedule beam for to tagger for 2 weeks in April depends on
box power supplies for arcs and Hall D line coming in ahead of
schedule
+ this is a level 3 milestone for the project
+ accelerator will install a dumplet at end of north linac
+ beam from lower passes to Hall D possible, but not likely
* Accelerator Readiness Review (ARR) process will discuss tagger hall
in Jan.
+ planning discussion this Wed.
+ PSS ties tagger and Hall D together
+ to access Hall with beam in tagger hall requires
reconfiguration, review
+ physical shielding needs to added in tagger hall
+ full document calls out plans for pair spectrometer, active
collimator, profiler, etc.
* BCAL
+ no chilled water yet
+ monitoring waiting for cabling
o 4 patch panels not build yet
# bias voltage system
# distribution boards for monitoring
# pieces in, not put together yet
* FCAL
+ monitoring panes received from Eljen
+ sanded, will be put up today
+ then LEDs attached to sides, cabled up
Lubomir
* FDC: long discussion on survey plan
+ FDC not a rigid body
+ Bill will modify optical targets to allow z-position
measurement
o use reflective tape, as Yi did for solenoid mapping
+ will cross check with Survey
+ after survey, on to cabling
* mesh for attaching cables yet to be installed
+ will run cooling system, check for leaks, before cable
installation so there is room to work in case leaks found
* working on alignment and calibration with full electronics test
data (cosmics_
+ resolutions obtained by excluding one cell out of six
+ getting 300-350 microns for both strips and wires
+ indicates mis-alignment
o formulating reasonable set of parameters that need
calibration
# must choose among a large list of degrees of freedom
# some parameters well known; will not need adjustment
+ see better results when looking at just a small part of the
chamber
Carlos
* working on PWA code w/ theorists and Hall B people
+ implementing improvements to isobar model
+ in particular 3-body amplitudes in eta to 3 pi
+ Adam S. and his post-docs providing framework for specifying
amplitudes
+ putting technique into Hall D framework, working with Yi on
this
* continuing work on baryon contamination problem
+ theorists are debating best approach: model or data
