    Present: Vladimir Berdnikov, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton,

Eugene

      * status of possible promotions uncertain, will know more in January
      * safety issue and possible delay of commissioning
           + incident with U-tube, cryo group
           + safety being reviewed
           + Mont send email alerting us to possible delay in schedule
      * budget has arrived for Physics
           + enough for 1 month, maybe 2
           + larger than pure CR amount
           + only mission critical travel allowed still
      * accelerator readiness review
           + will likely implement single-pass beam first
           + Elton has initial commissioning plan in place
                o will be reviewed by small group
                o then presentation to beamline working group
                o then to the collaboration as a whole
           + initial accelerator plan is 2 nA to tagger hall, with
             emittance five times worse than spec
      * PAC41
           + original plan was re-prioritization only
           + by popular demand, new proposals will be entertained
           + prioritization will be addressed by a later exercise of some
             sort
                o Hall leaders and spokespersons will have to generate a
                  short form summary of approved program
                o includes consideration of compatibility with other
                  experiments
           + big projects will have particular difficulty because of budget
             environment
      * Amtec having problems with F125 and CTP production
           + one quarter to one third of the boards are not fixable
           + Fernando and others in phone conference with the company
           + soldering issues with the FPGAs
           + problems appear in batches
      * regular charging to the 12 GeV accounts can resume for this month

Beni

      * the CDC is here
           + on gas several days
           + signals seen
           + 50 mV peak-to-peak noise
           + gas pressure at 1/2 inch of water
           + one of six lines feeding input from upstream to downstream
             being used to monitor pressure at downstream gas volume

David

      * work on preparations for software review
           + manpower survey shows increase of factor of two over estimate
             from mid-2012, was 23 FTE-years, now 45 FTE-years, integrated
             over three years
           + added manpower from Northwestern, Regina, FSU, CMU
           + planned activities has additions as well: Geant4, analysis of
             reconstructed data, quality assurance contributions

Hovanes

      * counting house
           + new machines have arrived, Paul Letta configuring them
           + transitioning old functions to new hardware: level 3 farm,
             raid
      * radiator foils
           + reviewed Hall B inventory with Steve Christo
           + they are thin in the items we want; may have to order our own
           + they used Al for 10^{-5}, Au for 10^{-4}, Pt for 10^{-3}
           + Al has crinkles, Youri Sharabian has method for straightening
             them
           + Goodfellow: company that can provide foils in the shape we
             want
           + Sascha: want to use pair spectrometer for absolute luminosity
             measurement
           + will need radiator by April
      * want to start cabling collimator stage
           + need power to racks under platform
      * measured length of cables for profiler
           + need HV, LV, signal cables
           + need to calibrate with a source
      * obtained 20 PMTs from Hall A for halo counters, need 11
           + 3 in tagger hall, 4 in collimator cave, 4 in hall
           + need to build enclosure, mounting bracket, provide HV control
      * reviewing plan for UPS in tagger hall
           + for motor controllers and network switches
           + gives ability to retract in-beam devices soon after power out

Tim

      * tagger hall electronics rack location
           + previous location near vacuum box flange, relatively high
             radiation area
           + will try to get short racks and put them under magnet instead
           + for microscope and hodoscope
      * target
           + test two weeks ago with liquid Ne; looked good
           + can get away with less H2 than originally planned, tank can be
             in the hall
      * start counter parts in for constructing support structure
      * chilled water system installation underway, leak checking in
        progress
      * N2 system designed, parts are in hand
      * air system, design nearly complete
      * cooling for CDC being readied
      * tagger magnet mapping
           + system operational as far as motion
           + switch problem did not flip magnet over
      * hodoscope support plates in, being fiducialized by survey and
        alignment
      * FDC inserted in BCAL
           + working on system to measure location of all 4 packages while
             inside the BCAL
           + Bill and Yi looking at laser system used in solenoid mapping
      * TOF: first half of modules on the way here from FSU
           + will unload Wed. morning
      * racks in hall: 2 more to go
      * cable trays 90% done
      * pair spectrometer mapping fixture our for fabrication
      * big gas panel for CDC, FDC installed, most of stuff in gas shed
        installed
           + gas system ready in month or two
      * AC power: getting help from electricians
           + outlets for FCAL due on Fri.
      * insertion devices for beamline devices sent back to manufacturer,
        fabrication issues
      * pair converter: insertions sticks, foil holder came in
      * tagger mapping should start next week

Mark D.

      * installing CODA in the hdops account, in preparation for FCAL
        testing
      * preparing for online data challenge
           + will take data from front-end electronics all the way to tape
             library

Simon

      * continuing work on alignment with straight tracks
      * looking at the 5% crash rate with reconstruction jobs

Mark I.

      * preparations for software review
           + review documents
           + provided timeline to Graham for CPU needs
      * new release of sim-recon ready to go
      * converted our Subversion repository to git and uploaded to the
        GitHub site as a test

Sascha

      * Ivan looked at cosmics with fine-grain tiles, measured light
        collection
           + expect 50-60 p. e. per hit
           + all tiles arrived beginning of Sep.
           + will proceed with fabrication in a week or two
           + final drawings were produced by Chuck last week
      * diamond procurement
           + UConn wants us to proceed with Element 6
           + also in contact with Cornell guy who dealt with E6
      * trigger stuff
           + Sergey P. has developed configuration files, same as Hall B
           + waiting on feedback from Ben Raydo on GTP algorithm
           + hardware installed in hall for FCAL testing
      * trigger monitors for F250
           + need monitors for each trigger subsystem
           + based on scalars
      * Elton: has there been discussion on data format for F250 like that
        for F125?

Sergey

      * has generic configuration files
      * completed preparations for FCAL read-out

Elton

      * looking at commissioning beamline
           + schedule beam for to tagger for 2 weeks in April depends on
             box power supplies for arcs and Hall D line coming in ahead of
             schedule
           + this is a level 3 milestone for the project
           + accelerator will install a dumplet at end of north linac
           + beam from lower passes to Hall D possible, but not likely
      * Accelerator Readiness Review (ARR) process will discuss tagger hall
        in Jan.
           + planning discussion this Wed.
           + PSS ties tagger and Hall D together
           + to access Hall with beam in tagger hall requires
             reconfiguration, review
           + physical shielding needs to added in tagger hall
           + full document calls out plans for pair spectrometer, active
             collimator, profiler, etc.
      * BCAL
           + no chilled water yet
           + monitoring waiting for cabling
                o 4 patch panels not build yet
                     # bias voltage system
                     # distribution boards for monitoring
                     # pieces in, not put together yet
      * FCAL
           + monitoring panes received from Eljen
           + sanded, will be put up today
           + then LEDs attached to sides, cabled up

Lubomir

      * FDC: long discussion on survey plan
           + FDC not a rigid body
           + Bill will modify optical targets to allow z-position
             measurement
                o use reflective tape, as Yi did for solenoid mapping
           + will cross check with Survey
           + after survey, on to cabling
      * mesh for attaching cables yet to be installed
           + will run cooling system, check for leaks, before cable
             installation so there is room to work in case leaks found
      * working on alignment and calibration with full electronics test
        data (cosmics_
           + resolutions obtained by excluding one cell out of six
           + getting 300-350 microns for both strips and wires
           + indicates mis-alignment
                o formulating reasonable set of parameters that need
                  calibration
                     # must choose among a large list of degrees of freedom
                     # some parameters well known; will not need adjustment
           + see better results when looking at just a small part of the
             chamber

Carlos

      * working on PWA code w/ theorists and Hall B people
           + implementing improvements to isobar model
           + in particular 3-body amplitudes in eta to 3 pi
           + Adam S. and his post-docs providing framework for specifying
             amplitudes
           + putting technique into Hall D framework, working with Yi on
             this
      * continuing work on baryon contamination problem
           + theorists are debating best approach: model or data
