Private:Hall D Staff Meeting, October 7, 2013

    Present: Fernando Barbosa, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton,
    Hovanes Egiyan, Mark Ito, Vanik Kakoyan, David Lawrence, Bert Manzlak,
    Lubomir Pentchev, Sergey Pozdniakov, Yi Qiang, Patrizia Rossi, Simon
    Taylor, Ivan Tolstukhin, Tim Whitlatch, Elliott Wolin, Beni Zihlmann

    Call to order: 3:00 pm

Announcements, Eugene

      * showed slides titled "WP&C, Aspects of Recent Events"
           + listed recordable incidents in Physics over the past 13 months
           + some events serious
           + showed draft of guidance for work planning in the Division
           + all test set-ups are subject to this guidance
           + in cases where required, where a minimal level of
             documentation is needed, HDList can be used
                o Look [12]here to find HDList and similar lists around the
                  lab.
           + Fernando reported that a work restriction involving a matrixed
             employee was not communicated to him by the employee's
             supervisor
                o Bert will take the general issue to HR
           + Bert reported on follow-up on the incident with the
             pressurized canister mentioned in the slides
                o two similar sites were found in Physics work areas
                o the procedure for this work had been in place before the
                  incident
           + Patrizia solicited feedback on the draft guidance
      * Collaboration meeting last week: good progress reported
      * Project: issues with overspending since the re-baseline
           + mainly the solenoid
           + beamline has noticeably fast burn rate
      * Project end, March 15, 2015, sooner for some activities
           + we have to finish before scheduled end of activity or money
             may disappear

Installation and Engineering, Tim

      * infrastructure for FDC installation a current priority
           + electrical, nitrogen flush, gas system, chilled water all in
             the works
           + chilled water needed for running chillers, needed for other
             detectors as well
      * tagger mapping:
           + plan to have started by end of month
           + 6 set-ups planned
           + should take 3-4 weeks

Electronics, Fernando

      * CDC may not have enough time to do testing in EEL given its cabling
        schedule in the Hall
           + will be discussed at tracking meeting

FCAL

      * Tim: power is big issue, Harris almost done, in 2 weeks should be
        there
      * Tim: DAQ can be run on temporary power at any time for a limited
        number of channels
      * Dark room work is on-going
      * Bert: asked about the existence of a access procedure for the dark
        box
      * Elliott: networking, CPU, CODA should all be ready to go
