Present: Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton, Alexandre Deur, Hovanes

Announcements, Eugene

  * The Physics Holiday Party is Dec. 11. Please give Rachel your $8.
  * You must register during open enrollment for retirement account
    contributions if you do not want the default amount. Contributions
    will be reset to the default if no action is taken.


NSAC and LRP, Patrizia

  * Long Range Plan
      o two weeks ago there was a meeting
      o DOE and NSF discussed budget situation
  * NSAC
      o each director report on lab activities
          + Bob McKeown represented JLab
      o charge issued for committee to make EIC cost estimate
          + EIC review will be chaired by Tribble
          + report due end of Feb.


Report to Management, Eugene

  * Eugene's report earlier today went well
  * Rolf, Arne, Allison, others attended
  * Generally favorable reaction
  * Response of DOE to come
  * Nominal milestone date: end of Dec


Accelerator Plans, Eugene

  * if multi-hall beam delivery works, they will go back to beam
    delivery to Hall D
      o with two weeks left before shutdown, we might expect five days
        of beam
      o the nights and weekends plan is dead
  * if multi-hall delivery fails, DOE decision my play a role
      o here PID with TOF would be a good addition
  * we should plan to man shifts until the holiday shutdown


Hall Status, Tim

  * mass flow controllers are being changed out
  * secondary collimator will be installed
  * change of shielding downstream of pair spectrometer vacuum box helped
  * good radiator-dependence in one of the radiation monitors in tagger
    hall points to downstream flange as source
  * a special lead brick for pair spectrometer magnet exit made


Trigger, Sasha

  * need to tun TDC window for tagger
  * time spectrum from tagger indicates too low a threshold
  * will implement time-of-flight and start counter trigger


DAQ, Sergey F.

  * several problems found
  * at high intensity, event builder ran out of memory, problem found,
    fix being implemented
  * attempt made a mode 7 running, get to 80% live
  * bottleneck appears to be event builder


FDC, Lubomir

  * enough alignment data taken for a first analysis
  * 20 to 30% go to periphery
  * using start counter for reference, but only getting 8 ns resolution
  * would like to try with tagger TDCs once they become available


Low-Level Detector Understanding, Eugene

  * we will ask for short reports at the morning meeting, one detector
    report per meeting, to update information on the status of
    understanding of basic parameters, such as pedestals, rates, etc.
