Magnet Review, Eugene

  * review tomorrow
  * charge:
     1. evaluate evidence on quenches
     2. review the current plan of action
     3. assess risks of the plan
  * panel/working-group has met before
      o second quench (low current, dI/dt = 0) rules out some
        possibilities considered during analysis of the first quench,
        e.g. a turn-to-turn short
      o current theory: combination of thermal event and a flux jump
      o cryostable magnet implies flux jump alone cannot cause quench
  * two possible approaches
     1. stay at 1200 A (conservative)
     2. go back to 1300 A (higher with hysteresis cycle), risk quench,
        try to understand behavior
  * if it can be done, lower temperature should help in any case


PAC Results, Eugene

  * Patrizia: reports due back by tomorrow
  * Hall D had 2 LOIs
      o committee had little time to evaluate
      o Patrizia: K beam generated lots of discussion
          + could other facilities (e. g. J-PARC) do better?
          + how is beam size controlled?
      o Omega: physics case needs to be more explicit
  * 8 proposals in all
      o 0 fully approved
      o 0 totally rejected


S&T Review, Eugene

  * slides have been prepared, thanks to Matt Shepherd and Justin
  * capital equipment projects
     1. DIRC
     2. FCAL upgrade (60x60 crystal insert)
     3. polarized target (frozen spin?, HD-ice?)


Polarized Target, Alexandre

  * discussed HD-ice with Andy Sandorfi
      o nose of cryostat needs modification, other than that no
        fundamental difficulty
  * CLAS6: proton polarization: 40%, deuterium polarization: 20%
      o could do polarization transfer p -> d or d->p, d could to to 30
        or 40%


Spare FDC Package Test Configuration, Tim

  * shielding re-arranged near PS magnet
  * need to schedule installation of FDC package
  * need decision on pulling out target, planning depends on whether or
    not there is CDC work
      o CDC leak fixing?
      o CDC noise reduction by re-working grounding of HV boards
      o target group may have items


Other Topics

  * Tim: magnet cool-down scheduled to start in August
  * Mark: Git conversion
      o scheduled for Wednesday
      o will create a succinct set of instructions
  * Sergey: DAQ now writing most run info to RCDB
  * Beni: crates for FDC and CDC are on
  * Eugene: beam schedule: 1.5 weeks starting in November
