[Halld-jlab] Equipment Power OFF

Hi David,
Power-saving modes are not available in these modules. Given your
need to use all of these modules on a weekly basis, there is no apparent
benefit in turning power off to the VXS and VME crates. There is,
however, still the possibility of turning off all the LV, bias and HV
chassis but I have received no feedback on these yet.
Best regards,
Fernando

Saving energy (money and less CO2 in the atmosphere) and possibly extended longevity of the electronics are appropriate to consider. For reference, power consumption is nominally 1.5kW-hr per chassis or ~ 90kW-hr total for Hall D.

The power supplies in use have soft start attributes which limit in-rush currents to safe operating levels if performed in a controlled manner, i.e. remote or front panel.
