  Hall D Staff Meeting, September 19, 2016

Present: Alexander Austregesilo, Thomas Britton, Eugene Chudakov, Mark 
Dalton, Alexandre Deur, Hovanes Egiyan, Sergey Furletov, Mark Ito, David 
Lawrence, Paul Mattione, Lubomir Pentchev, Elton Smith, Simon Taylor,

    Eugene

  * budget crunch until Oct. 17
      o no new money from DOE, must live on carry-over
      o already: postponed DIRC contract for optical box for 1 month,
        freed 100 k$
      o problem with money: goniometer, sent to manufacturer, $28k, 1/3
        of total cost for repair, balance for expedited schedule. Curtis
        paying for speed-up
  * continuing resolution, not may not be resolved for 6 months
      o receive 1/12 per month based on previous year, increased
        operations planned, outstrips that rate of money
  * S&T visit: collaboration has given plots to Bob McKeown, including
    J/psi peak
  * Conferences, note from Rachel
      o plan in advance, notify management for the next year
      o Eugene made list, found very few relevant conferences
      o APS April meeting in January, abstracts due Sep. 30
  * Introducing: Thomas Britton, new post-doc, graduate work at
    Syracuse, B -> J/psi phi K


    Mark

  * Software Review coming up November 10 and 11
      o weekly meetings have started: Curtis, Eugene, David, Mark, Justin
      o Curtis has started writing document. Current version outlines
        areas to address. Writing assignments have been handed out.
      o Eugene: should look at how mistake with reconstruction launch,
        version 2, crept in
  * Shifts will be assigned later today for JLab folks
      o some discussion of shift credit to be awarded to run
        coordinators, no decision, discussion moved offline


    Elton

  * FCAL has run, BCAL was not ready on Friday
  * new firmware status not known
  * Elton will check w/ Adesh


    Beni

  * Incident this morning: electrician fixing breaker box, should not
    have cause interruption, UPS only lasted 10 minutes
      o result: power failure on control equipment
      o UPS did not report its status on power up, valve did not open,
        helium level down to 10% on cold box
      o 2 computers talk to PLC, both dead because of windows update
      o Nick Sandoval brought PCs to computer center (Nick was in Hall B
        when incident occurred)
