  Hall D Staff Meeting, June 11, 2018

Present: Alexander Austregesilo, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton, 
Alexandre Deur, Hovanes Egiyan, Mark Ito, David Lawrence, Lubomir 
Pentchev, Patrizia Rossi, Elton Smith, Sascha Somov, Simon Taylor, Tim

  * Announcements (Eugene)
      o Budget
          + Promised extra funds have not arrived, budget is getting
            tight, new big items a problem right now
          + We are spending 100 k$ on tapes this year
      o Lubomir has been promoted. Congratulations Lubomir!
      o Open house: 3-5 k guests
      o Software Review scheduled for Nov. 27-28
      o GlueX II Readiness Review will be June 25
          + speakers: Tim, Justin, David
  * Summer Activities
      o DIRC (Tim)
          + all bar boxes here, 2 installed already
          + optical box due mid-July
          + plan: system operational Aug. 24
      o CDC need not be removed (Beni, Lubomir)
          + apparent leak was a false reading from a mass flow controller
          + CDC itself is nominally gas tight
  * Counting House Computing Upgrade (David)
      o DAQ going to 40 gigabit ethernet
      o file server with 10 gigabit interface being installed
      o suspect cables getting replaced, rack room cabling getting
        rationalized
      o node location in racks getting rationalized as well
      o desktop nodes will be upgraded to RHEL7, local disks will be
        wiped in the process
      o plan: system back up Wednesday
  * Hall D Safety Walk-Through (Elton)
      o two students need it, scheduled for next week
      o if others are interested, contact Elton
  * Run Documentation (Eugene, Beni, Elton)
      o RSAD: for Fall, same as Spring, for commissioning period
        discussion needed
      o ESAD, Hall Operations, etc. for GlueX II needed before review
        this month
  * J/ψ paper (Lubomir)
      o compiling results and systematics for old vs. new analysis, 2016
        vs. 2017 data
      o now at 30% level on normalization systematic error
      o plan to use future reconstruction launches with new software for
        both 2016 and 2017 data
      o time scale: write paper Sep.-Nov.
  * Simulation Launch on OSG (Mark)
      o generation, detector simulation, and reconstruction
      o ~2500 jobs running now
      o should be at 1 billion events by end of week
