Title: A Pathway to Hybrids at GlueX with η(′)π Final-States
The primary goal of the GlueX experiment is to search for and map the spectrum of light hybrid mesons. As a first step in developing its analysis program to search for hybrid mesons, the GlueX Collaboration has measured polarization observables, spin density matrix elements, and cross-sections of mesons in order to understand their production mechanism. In order to produce high impact results on hybrid mesons, GlueX will need to establish a well-defined path towards creating publishable results on hybrid channels of high interest, such as searching for decays of the π1(1600) to η(′)π final-states. This talk will discuss three aspects of the analysis that are necessary to produce results on hybrids in a timely matter: understanding the detector acceptance, properly treating the backgrounds, and correctly interpreting the results of an amplitude analysis. I will discuss these components in the context of the work I have done on the reaction γp→η(′)π- ∆++ with GlueX data.
