  Hall D Staff Meeting, June 10, 2019

Present: Thomas Britton, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Hovanes Egiyan, Sergey 
Furletov, Mark Ito, David Lawrence, Lubomir Pentchev, Sascha Somov, 
Simon Taylor, Tim Whitlatch, Beni Zihlmann


    Announcements (Eugene)

  * run starts July 17, Halls A, B, and C
  * PAC47 coming at end of July. Hall D: two proposals
     1. K Long Facility
     2. MIT group: short-range correlations, color transparency
  * Budget uncertain, but 3% increase over FY19 is hoped for
  * High Energy long-term plan
      o Upgrade of LHC to higher energy is out
      o Next machine e^+ e^&minus at the Higgs mass
      o After that protons in the same tunnel
      o Could bode well for EIC construction approval


    Hall Status (Tim)

  * DIRC upper optical box installation
      o will open and inspect for dust
      o water leaks found and fixed
      o should be done in two weeks
  * After that unmount TOF for upgrade work
  * Sascha getting ready to do annealing of TAC lead glass
      o Hovanes has assured Hall B that the TAC can be returned on
        demand and intact
  * FCAL insert PMT set-up constructed
  * fix-up of gas panels done
  * other general maintenance in preparation for Fall run


    Data Analysis (David)

  * NERSC processing of Spring 2018 data is done.
      o Batch 7 of 7 was done at JLab
      o next on to Fall 2018 data, need to consult with Sean on readiness


    Other Items

  * David: in August counting room workstations to be upgraded to RedHat
    Enterprise 7.
  * David: NetApp server needs upgrade, studying options
  * Eugene: Users Group Meeting will start on June 24
  * Eugene: J/ψ paper prompted congratulations from Stan Brodsky
