    Hall D Staff Meeting, March 4, 2019

Present: Thomas Britton, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton, Hovanes 
Egiyan, Sergey Furletov, Mark Ito, David Lawrence, Lubomir Pentchev, 
Elton Smith, Sascha Somov, Simon Taylor, Beni Zihlmann


      Items from Senior Staff Meeting (Eugene)

  * flexible schedule system starts April 1
      o other labs are using it
      o there will be orientation sessions at the end of March
  * property validation: please complete if you have not done so already
  * budget briefing at DOE
      o goal of 34 weeks of running expressed
      o homework was assigned
      o cost-of-living budget increase scenario for next year
  * Summer 2020: potential running at low energy, not yet approved
      o while one CHL is being worked on
      o program ideas are solicited
          + Elton: CPP changes could be done


      Hall D Items (Eugene)

  * applications in for post-doc position
      o not all letters of recommendation have been received
      o about 8 applicants
      o most from JLab community, one from BNL
  * other staff positions discussed
  * Physics division is ready to procure 1,000 crystals for insert
      o vendor unclear
      o Sergey: there is another supplier out there


      Running

  * Sascha: running going smoothly
  * Eugene: energy may be lowered by 1/2 a GeV
  * When target is full of helium, will look at current draw by CDC
      o goal: limit current to that which we have seen for normal GlueX
        running
      o Beni: inner 2 layers may have to be turned off, or not
  * Cryo group will start work on refrigerator before the end of the run
  * Elton: something needs work which will require power down of Hall
