    Hall D Staff Meeting, August 9, 2021

Present: Alexander Austregesilo, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton, 
Hovanes Egiyan, Sergey Furletov, Mark Ito, Igal Jaegle, Keigo Mizutani, 
Lubomir Pentchev, Patrizia Rossi, Sascha Somov, Simon Taylor, Tim Whitlatch


    Announcements, Eugene

  * an offer has been made to Boris Gruber. He has accepted.
      o it may take some months to get a visa
  * another position will be posted
      o do we have enough PWA talent on board now?
      o what about Alex's suggestion of hiring someone with software skills?
      o if you have thoughts, send them to Eugene this week
  * budget
      o some money left, parts for FCAL2 were not ready for procurement
        in this FY
      o about 100 k$ available
      o ideas and plans
          + new beam profiler, Hovanes managing this, will be built at
            Regina
          + GEM detectors from UVA
              # prototype for TRD
              # 2 smaller GEMs for North PS arm for momentum measurement
          + GlueX improvements
              # vertex-like detector, limited space
              # spare chiller for FCAL2


    Crystals, Sascha

  * situation still unclear
  * Krytur could do entire order
  * we may get some crystals from Hall C
  * the CompCal could be cannibalized
  * we were supposed to have 1000 at beginning of CY 2021


    Shifts for SRC, Lubomir

  * Hall D staff will have to take expert shifts at beginning of SRC run
      o estimate is 8 8-hour shifts
