   Present:  Fernando  Barbosa,  George  Biallas,  John  Domingo,  Eugene

   Sascha Somov, Elton Smith, Simon Taylor, Beni Zihlmann

Eugene

     * Recommendations from the Lehman Review for Hall D
         1. Management  team:  should  look more like the other Halls, an
            electrical engineer should be added to the team
               o Elton:  committee  wants to see a procedure for deciding
                 technical issues
         2. solenoid, options:
              1. build a new one
              2. continue to refurbish old one and prepare to build a new
                 one
              3. continue to refurbish
               o Eugene:  Need  a  program  to  evaluate  these  options,
                 probabilities of failure, implications of these failures
               o Elton:  form a committee, designate a chairperson to get
                 evaluation moving
         3. preference   expressed   for  FMPMT's  over  SiPM's,  January
            deadline for decision
         4. re-evaluate manpower, especially university contributed
               o Eugene:  this  is  mostly  software,  PWA cannot be in a
                 construction project
     * In  six  months there will be another review, not known if it will
       be a full oneor not


Dan

     * Continuing work on full-scale prototype
     * procedure for soldering rigid flex boards being specified
     * wire  planes  being  cleaned  as part of program to find source of
       high current draw


Beni

     * working on the FDC test stand, effort to reproduce Simon's results
       on small prototype
     * cathodes look good, 500 micron resolution


Fernando

     * pre-amp assembled outside by outside vendor, testing, works well
     * ASIC does not meet requirements, preliminary
          + gains should be twice GAS1 for cathodes and 1/3 for anodes
          + anode gain a bit higher than form GAS1
          + linearity very bad
          + power consumption ok
          + discriminator  section  works,  but only without planned back
            termination on output
          + Mitch  has  to  go  back  to  the  drawing board, pre-amps in
            February, probably
     * Elton: flash adc's schedule need re-evaluation


David

     * position dependent position resolution put in
     * FCAL smearing moved from dana to mcsmear
     * further rootspy program work done
     * note and study for mapping magnetic field
          + magnitude of difference between nominal and perturbed changes
            FDC fields by 2%. rho meson mass doed not reflect this change
            at the expected level


George

     * coil 1 being capped up, some cracks in tack welds on clips
     * statement of work for coil 3 started
     * coil 2 work (?)
     * Tom will start on yoke pieces
     * test stand still in review
     * may not need to order new u-tubes
     * discussion  on  nature  of potential shorts due to stainless steel
       rings at the inner windings of the coils


Chuck

     * updating FDC model and drawings
     * working with George and Floyd on magnet drawings


Slava

     * ground between aluminum plate and connectors generating issues
     * layout  of  HV  board  needs  modification  because  of  leads for
       grounding
     * location of holes depends on width of boards
     * need to add 175 holes to endplate


Sascha

     * simulation work on tagger magnet, can make it narrower by 5-7 cm
     * checking rate for microscope counter, looks like about 3 to 5 MHz


Simon

     * work on tracking, especially multi-particle final states
     * dE/dx particle ID in CDC working well for low momentum particles


Elton

     * working  on  simulation  of  light  guides  for  fine-mesh  pmt's,
       confirming USM design and simulation work
     * future design effort will be required for this system
