Tim: should be shipped today David * Looking at BCAL reconstruction in context of full event reconstruction * Work done on speeding up Alt1 fitter, boundary checking reviewed, get factor of 2 in speed * New tweaked material maps generated * Put in a vertex object, takes the charged tracks, average point of closest approach to the beamline. Want to add reality to current practice where 1. vertex for photons taken as center of target 2. start time comes from Monte Carlo + there were cyclic references revealed * Work with James: test with rootspy, several machines at once, ssh tunnel used, enough for report for James's program * Open House: + contacted Mark S. on BCAL module + floor plan done + posters collected, up to 8 can be displayed, Primex will contribute one + schedule being finalized + tents go up on the Thursday before Mark I. * Working with Ryan on getting the software built at IU * Wrote a HOWTO with David on how to add user code * Working on finding home for BCAL reconstruction * Work on build makefiles to add flexibility: latest or tagged * Made a new release of the sim-recon code * Discussion with Richard on how to make simple event filters for HDDM, e. g. + number of tracks + energy in calorimeter + event list * Documentation mini-projects ongoing * Some work on tracking code Elton * FCAL Readyness Review: 4th of May + Tim, Eugene, Elton, Bruce Lenzer will go + Videoconference with Procurement people and Beni * SiPM MOU with Santa Maria has made progress, on a schedule drawn up with Klaus * Started working on parametric MV for eta production, studying a higher resolution insert in FCAL using lead tungstate from PrimEx * FCAL PMT order, replacements, 450 of them, went out at beginning of last week Yi * Test set-up for SiPM radiation damage done in hall, waiting for Hall A to start production, delayed due to leak in vacuum chamber * HMI programming, software installed and activated, can talk to PLC hardware and can read back tag values + need to talk to engineering folks to design interface Lubomir * 3 layers of FDC put together and bubbling, connected electrically and tested, Casey Heck has been busy, five wire not recoverable * Leak found between chambers at ground plane, trick: have same pressure everywhere * New design, preparing mechanical prototype, testing to start in earnest soon, will measure minimum flow to drive bubbler * Test with cosmics (3 layer prototype) moving to cosmic stand. Problem: possible flexing of prototype, mechanical support scheme being considered * Planning for off-site space * Brian thinking about SSC-era winding machine belonging to Howard Fenker, maybe we should have a facility * Lead glass block not readily accessible; but found 4x4 cm; that one wanted for Hall A. Elton said that he had one. Mark S. * Also making some test pieces to practice disassembly of glued cathode pairs * Wiring switch panel for J-T valves Slava * Checking location of holes in disks for CDC chambers (pictures were passed around) * Holes not milled through smoothly, hand reamer has been used, work done * After checking, conclude assembly can be done, no big errors + check from survey group: 4 or 5 mils max error, within acceptable range, 5% of holes checked * Ready to discuss central part of chamber George * Coil 1 + Moved to the newly available area, coil flipped. + About to weld up 2 nitrogen tube joints and re establish the Chimney integrity. * Coil 3 – + Contract with IUCO is in place. * Coil 2 + Coil is flipped, Cake pan off, shield super insulation removed and shield dis-assembly to start. + Soon to be in position to remove coil, flip and grind open the coil end. * Test – Heading toward assembly in late May + Rail installation for test started. + Cryo Can progressing with Meyer Tool of Chicago area for late May delivery. Engineering group folks, Mark Wiseman & Gary Cheng are there tomorrow. They will compare their original schedule to what state the actual assembly is. + Supports for the Anaconda (the triple u-tube) are in bidding. + Electrical lead support parts in manufacture. + Josh Ballard Helium relief stack piping modeled; about to be detailed. + Power Supply electrical powering complete; water hook-up in process. + Josh defined the warm piping systems to hand off to installers. + Filler plate contract biddin to put the 6 inch thick filler plates onto the Yokes before moving to the Test Lab. + Ladder and railing modification and some Chimney parts still need design. + Yoke installation graphics needed for contract with Rigging firm. Spec. is needed. * Designer Richard Getz joined James Fochtman in working on Hall transfer line U-tube Can, U-Tubes and Cryo Can and our Cryo Interface. * Floyd Martin continuing on the Hall D, 12 GeV BCal interface and the ring girders, filler plates, baffles, and stand modification. Tim * Hiring: + John Goetz, new contract designer + offer for tech about to go out + tech, senior tech, FDC coordinator, entry level engineer in pipeline * Tagger magnet: + Bill and James Lagner getting specs together, should go out in two weeks + yoke and coil go out together, along with questions about how vendor wants to handle the two * Engineering and design might move up to 5th floor of ARC, 4th floor is full * BCAL: additional 4% of lead ordered for supply margin * Straws: 300 micron Al, 250 supposed to be coming in soon * FCAL: Chuck working with John Frye of IU to get drawing package together * Elton: Pansophy anyone? Tim attended demo + used on cryomodules, can use for IU FCAL, JLab FDC + tracks test and assembly procedures, test results * Sascha: Bill's mechanical simulation of magnet done? Tim: deflection looks OK Sascha * Done with rate note, in DocDB * Map for 6-cm-narrower magnet received from Yang[?]. + new TOSCA field agrees with Sascha's previous calculation + can modify technical drawings for vacuum chamber now * Trigger electronics: David Abbott preparing readout software for playback mode Simon * Working on various issues in tracking + material map, updated in forward direction + started smoother for kalman algorithm + found a speed-up candidate area of code: magnetic field look-up, finer grid will eliminate need for interpolation Anything Else? * Elton: what should we staff members do for these reviews? * Eugene: + solenoid the major issue + Bill Schneider, chairman of magnet review, endorsed plan + FDC: mostly electronics + backup slides for Glenn will have to be produced + dry run: Wed. of this week Retrieved from "http://www.jlab.org/Hall-D/software/wiki/index.php/Private:Hall_D_Staff_Meeting%2C_April_12%2C_2010"
