Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who is volunteering at the Open House tomorrow.
Below
is some information regarding the Hall-D display.

Hall-D Open House Important Info:

Volunteers
-------------------
We should have between 7 and 17 volunteers at any given time
spread between the counting house and Hall-D itself. I screen
captured the volunteer list some time ago and it is below to remind
yourself of which shift you signed up for.

Visitor Traffic Pattern
-------------------------------
Visitors will either walk to or be dropped off with golf carts at
the counting
house.

From the counting house they will go downstairs into Hall-D.

We should try and direct them to leave Hall-D through the truck ramp
and walk back around to the counting house parking lot.

If anyone has difficulty getting down the stairs or up the truck
ramp, Tom
will have a golf cart available that can drive them up and down the
truck
ramp. We can't use that for everyone though since it is battery
powered.

Stations
-------------------------------
There are multiple stations set up in the Hall and counting house.
The
plan is to have you all self-assign yourself to a station. For some
of you,
it will be obvious where you should be. You may also roam around to
try and help wherever visitors may be. Here is a list of stations:

- Counting House:
We need between 2 and 4 volunteers here at any point in time.
At least
one should be a physicist. They should be able to describe the
GlueX
experiment, show them the rack room, and generally "prime"
visitors
for what they will be seeing in the hall.

- Entrance to Hall:
This is option if we have enough volunteers on hand. There are
2 physics
posters they will see as they enter the hall that the volunteer
can speak
to and then point them to the other stations

- Event display on side of magnet
Self-explanatory. Note that this is a movie so the display is
not
interactive.

- FDC display on platform
FDC experts preferred here.

- BCAL modules on platform
Need one person on either side. Make sure nobody touches the
modules
due to the exposed lead hazard! Also, people may be tempted to
try
and yank off a stray fiber. Don't let them do it!. We will have
a laser on hand
to shine through. One can also place a cell phone next to the
plexiglass on
either end, but the effect is not terribly dramatic due to the
plexiglass.

- Collimator cave
There is one poster near where the beam enters the hall. It has
diagrams of
the tagger building and can be used to talk a little about the
beam.

- mini-BCAL/mini-FCAL
These are on a table at ground level on the same side of the
hall as the
truck ramp.

- SiPM/light guide/PMT table (under platform)
Opposite of the mini-detectors is a table with some readout
devices.

- Civil Construction (truck ramp)
Some posters showing the civil construction. This volunteer
should also
point the visitors to the way back to the counting house
parking lot.

Cell-Phone
-----------------------------
We have one cell-phone for both the counting house and Hall-D.
It will be kept by one of the volunteers in the counting house. A
list
of important numbers will be kept with the phone. If you need to
contact
Open house organizers for any reason, get the phone from the
person in the counting house.

Accidental Power shutdown
------------------------------
There are emergency STOP buttons in the counting house and Hall
that someone may accidentally press. If this happens, you will need
to
call either Mark Stevens (757-903-9773) or Mark Bear (757-952-5121)
(or is it 757-592-5121?). They have keys and knowledge to get the
breakers turned back on.

Snacks
-------------------------
Snacks for volunteers will be available in the dumb waiter. When you
are
done, make sure you close the doors of the dumb waiter so the person
on the other end may call it if desired.

Questions can be referred to David Lawrence (cell 757-746-6697).
