Thanks this is helpful. I assume that you are also aware of this page:

I know it has been circulated on this list before. It provides what seems like many practical formulae for constructing errors from specific detector geometries (axial, stereo straws, planes, etc.) in addition to a ton of other stuff dealing with fitting and Kalman filtering. Any document referred to as CBX xxx that you can't find and want, let me know and I will get from the CLEO web page. (CBX is the CLEO acronym for internal technical note.)
