Paul,
Yes, I tested that part of the REST writer with bggen because I knew that genr8 does not even save any information about the target or beam particles in its output. To give better uniformity, I went and added functionality to genr8_2_hddm to fabricate beam and target tags in the output hddm file. Please update your genr8_2_hddm project directory from svn and try it again. It is a bit of a kludge, but it should work for our purposes.
