[Halld-offline] Concerning GIT for Hall D

Hi,

Below is a link to my note on Bitkeeper from nearly a decade ago.  
Replace the
word "BitKeeper" with "GIT", and "CVS" with "SVN", and the arguments are
still valid.  Of course BitKeeper implemention details are irrelevant, I
assume GIT has equivalents:
