[Halld-offline] Data Challenge Software Recommendation

Hi offline experts,

It would be helpful if Paul, Mark, Dave, etc. put their heads together and came up with a recommendation for a software package: sim-recon, hdds, ccdb, jana to use to work with the data challenge data.

Kei and I would like to work with two undergraduate students here to conduct some physics studies with data challenge data. However, we've found ourselves in a mess of different releases, patches, etc. It is hard to for one person to keep things straight; having four people on the same page seems impossible.

Goal: be able to generate signal MC and also be able to analyze the stored data challenge MC.

Can someone briefly recommend what versions of all the relevant code produce a compatible stack for analysis?

What are the known bugs or limitations with this set?

Maybe it is required that we generate MC with one version and reconstruct with another. Or some combination of generate, reconstruct, analyze... but right now I'm lost.

Having all analyzers on the same page would also be helpful for comparing results.

Thanks,

Matt
