[Halld-offline] how to skim

Hi all,

Can someone point me to code or instructions for
generating skimming raw events out of a sample?
(Is it recommended the output be stored in EVIO
or HDDM?)  I'd like to skim a sample of pi0's
for calibration.  We will need to run over this
sample multiple times as the process is iterative.
